We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, recognizing the weight of sin and the need for repentance. While your prayer is brief, we sense a sincere cry for forgiveness, and we join you in seeking the Lord’s mercy. The Bible tells us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). Yet, true repentance requires more than words, it calls for a turning away from sin and a turning toward God with a contrite heart.

You mention having done "three things," but without specifics, we cannot address the nature of these sins. However, we know that all have sinned and fall short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23), and no sin is too great for His forgiveness when we come to Him in humility. But let us be clear: forgiveness is not a casual transaction. It is a sacred exchange where we lay down our rebellion and receive His grace. If these "three things" involve unrepentant sin, whether it be sexual immorality, idolatry, deceit, or any other transgression, we must name them before God and turn from them completely. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18), but He also calls us to holiness.

We also notice that while you invoked the name of Jesus Christ, your prayer lacked a personal acknowledgment of your need for Him as Savior and Lord. Salvation is not found in rituals or vague pleas, it is found in the person of Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and rose again. "For there is no other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet placed your faith in Christ alone for salvation, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His finished work on the cross, and surrender your life to Him.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts burdened by the weight of sin. We thank You for Your mercy, which is new every morning, and for the blood of Jesus that washes us clean. Lord, we ask that You would reveal to this dear one the fullness of their need for repentance. Search their heart, O God, and know their thoughts. If there is any wicked way in them, lead them in the everlasting way (Psalm 139:23-24). Forgive them, cleanse them, and renew a right spirit within them.

We pray that they would not only seek forgiveness but also walk in obedience to Your Word. Strengthen them to resist temptation and to live a life that honors You. If they have not yet placed their trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, we ask that You would draw them to Yourself. Open their eyes to see their need for a Savior, and grant them the gift of faith to believe in Him.

Lord, we also pray for a spirit of discernment. If these "three things" are areas of ongoing struggle, equip them with Your Word and the power of Your Holy Spirit to overcome. Surround them with godly believers who can encourage and hold them accountable. May they find their identity in Christ alone and walk in the freedom that comes from knowing Him.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all names, the only name by which we can be saved. Amen.

Dear one, we encourage you to spend time in God’s Word, particularly in the Psalms, where you will find both the honesty of human struggle and the hope of divine mercy. Consider reading Psalm 51, where David pours out his heart after his own grievous sins. Let it be a model for your own repentance. If you are not already part of a Bible-believing church, we urge you to seek one out. You were not meant to walk this journey alone.

Finally, if these "three things" involve harm to others, whether through deception, betrayal, or any other sin, we encourage you to seek reconciliation where possible. Jesus said, "If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift" (Matthew 5:23-24). True repentance often requires making amends.

May the Lord bless you and keep you; may He make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; may He lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace (Numbers 6:24-26). Walk in His light, and do not let sin have dominion over you. You are loved, you are forgiven, and you are called to live for Him.

We are grateful you brought this to God and to us. Naming three specific things takes honesty, and bringing them before the Lord is the right place to start. Confession is not something God needs from you; it is how you are healed and changed. It is not meant to leave you stuck in shame or repeating the same guilt over and over. It opens the door for God to restore your peace and help you walk differently.

One practical step: in a quiet moment, name those three things plainly before God, one at a time. Tell Him what you did, and then receive the forgiveness He offers through Jesus Christ. Do not keep the three things rolling around in your mind all day. Lay them down and let them stay down. If the guilt still feels heavy after you have prayed, share it with a trusted pastor or mature Christian so you are not carrying it alone. Sometimes speaking it out loud to another believer helps the forgiveness become real in your heart.

Father, thank You for Your mercy. We lift up this person who has come to You with an honest heart. Forgive the three things they have brought before You, and wash away the guilt. Give them the peace of being forgiven and the strength to turn away from what they did. Keep them close to Jesus, in whose name we pray. Amen.

Three things stand between your soul and peace, and the Lord Jesus Christ stands between your soul and the wrath those three things deserve. You did right to come in His name, for there is no other name given under heaven. But do not stop with so vague a confession. You have not told me what they are, and you need not, but you must tell the Lord plainly, for He already knows. It is one thing to say, "Forgive me, I did three things," and another to fall before Him and say, "I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me." The first may be no better than Judas's remorse if it hides the particulars; the second is the beginning of pardon.

There is forgiveness with God, that He may be feared. Great sin requires great forgiveness, and great forgiveness is found in Christ alone. The blood of Jesus cleanseth from all sin. If you have been the chief of sinners, you may have the chief of sinner's forgiveness. But do not think God will bless what His word condemns. If any of the three things is a sin you are still holding, you cannot keep the sin and have the Savior. The Lord does not give peace while the sin is cherished. True repentance kills the love of sin, so that if it were buttered and sugared on both sides the forgiven heart would not have it.

Go now and name the three things before the throne, without excuse and without hiding. Plead the death of Christ. Ask, "Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin." The moment a sinner looks to the cross in honest confession and faith, the burden rolls away, never to return. Then forsake the three things, and sin no more. Amen.

God does not despise a heart that asks for mercy in Jesus Christ. But do not stop with a vague “three things.” In your prayer, name each of the three sins before God. Call them what Scripture calls them. He already knows them, but confession is for your healing and humility. Then turn from them with your will. Peter denied the Lord and wept bitterly, and he was restored. No sin is too great if you repent as you ought.

But do not use forgiveness as permission to sin again. The mercy that washes you is meant to make you hate the sin, not repeat it. If any of these three things can be put right with another person, do what you can to make it right. If you have been unmerciful, show mercy. If you have hidden something, do not cover it with another wrong. Confession and amendment expose sin so grace may cover it. Pray again, naming each thing, and ask for cleansing through Christ’s blood and for strength to walk in new obedience. God promises forgiveness to the penitent, not to the presumptuous.

Your simple and honest prayer for forgiveness is precious to God, and He hears you when you come to Him in the name of Jesus Christ.

There is no way to hide guilt from yourself or from God. When sin is unconfessed it stays before you and weighs on your conscience. Trying to cover it, excuse it, or justify it never brings peace. The relief only comes when you openly acknowledge before God what you have done. Scripture says that the one who covers his sin will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes his sin will find mercy.

God is not looking for an excuse from you. He already knows what you have done, but He gives you the opportunity to confess so that He can righteously forgive you. Forgiveness is as close as confession. If you confess your sins, He is faithful and just to forgive your sins and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness. That forgiveness is total and complete. Though your sins are as scarlet, He can make them white as snow. He does not give a partial pardon or keep holding your sin over you. When He forgives, He blots out your transgressions and remembers them no more.

Guilt often makes us feel that we must punish ourselves in order to feel free, but you do not need to carry that burden or punish yourself. Jesus Christ took your guilt upon Himself and paid the full penalty for your sin when He died on the cross. Because He bore your sin and your guilt, God's justice is satisfied, and you can be fully forgiven through faith in Him. No one else can remove that deep sense of guilt, but Christ can wash you and take it away completely, and bring back joy and gladness to your heart.

You mentioned three things. Bring each one specifically before the Lord by name. Tell Him openly what you did, agree with Him that it was sin, and ask for His forgiveness and cleansing through the blood of Jesus. Receive His forgiveness by faith and thank Him for it. Then, because His goodness leads us to turn away from sin, ask Him for strength to walk in a new way and to forsake what you have confessed.

You can rest today in this promise. When you confess, you are forgiven. You are cleansed. You are made new in Christ. May the Lord lift this burden from you and fill you with His peace.
