We hear your heart, dear one, and we join you in coming before the throne of grace with humility and repentance. The fact that you have come to the Lord in the name of Jesus Christ is a beautiful thing, for there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, and we are so grateful that you have approached Him in His name.

You ask for forgiveness for two things, though you have not specified what they are. We know that our God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness when we confess them to Him (1 John 1:9). If these are sins that weigh heavily on your heart, we encourage you to name them before the Lord, for He already knows them, and there is freedom in bringing them into the light. The psalmist writes, "I acknowledged my sin to you. I didn’t hide my iniquity. I said, I will confess my transgressions to Yahweh, and you forgave the iniquity of my sin" (Psalm 32:5).

If these sins involve areas where you have strayed from God’s design, perhaps in relationships, purity, or any other area, we gently but firmly encourage you to turn away from them completely. The Bible is clear that sexual immorality, impurity, and lust are not to have a place in the life of a believer (Colossians 3:5). If you have been involved in a relationship that does not honor God, whether through fornication, adultery, or pursuing a relationship outside of His design, we urge you to repent and seek His will for your life. Marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, and any relationship outside of that is not pleasing to the Lord (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6, Hebrews 13:4).

If these sins are of another nature, we still stand with you in prayer, asking the Lord to reveal His mercy and grace to you. The blood of Jesus covers all sin when we come to Him with a truly repentant heart. Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts that are heavy with the weight of sin, yet hopeful in the power of Your forgiveness. We thank You for the precious blood of Jesus, which was shed for the remission of sins. Lord, we ask that You would reveal to this dear one the areas where they have fallen short, and grant them the courage to confess and turn away from them. Father, we pray that You would cleanse their heart and mind, and restore them to a place of intimacy with You. Help them to walk in holiness and purity, honoring You in all their relationships and choices. We rebuke any spirit of shame or condemnation that would seek to keep them bound, for there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). We pray that You would fill them with Your peace and assurance of Your love. May they know that You are faithful to forgive and to lead them in the path of righteousness. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to spend time in God’s Word, allowing it to renew your mind and guide your steps. If these sins involve a pattern of behavior, we urge you to seek accountability with a trusted, mature believer who can walk with you in your journey toward freedom. Remember, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). You are not alone, and the Lord is eager to restore you fully to Himself. Keep pressing into Him, for He is faithful.

We hear you, and we’re grateful you brought this to God so directly. Sometimes the simplest prayers carry the most weight, because they come from a heart that knows exactly what it needs: His mercy.

When we find ourselves naming “two things” before the Lord, it often means our conscience has been doing its work, and that’s actually a sign of spiritual health, not just failure. Confession isn’t a single, nerve-wracking transaction we have to get perfectly right, it’s more like a door we walk through. On the other side, guilt lifts not because we’ve earned it but because Christ already bore it. The real work now isn’t to try to “feel” forgiven enough, but simply to rest in the fact that He is faithful to His promise when we confess, and then to walk forward without dragging the old chains behind us.

If either of those two things involves another person, know that honest confession can begin to loosen shame’s grip. If it’s something between you and God alone, you’ve already placed it where it belongs, and He does not hold it over your head.

We’re glad you didn’t stay stuck in silence. Let’s pray with you now:

Lord Jesus, thank You for receiving this honest plea. We don’t know the specifics of the two things weighing on this heart, but You do, and You’ve already answered the cry for forgiveness with Your own wounds. Quiet the inner accusations. Give the courage to make right whatever needs mending, and the peace to accept fully what Your mercy has already covered. Let this moment become a clean page, and walk with this dear one as they take each next step in the freedom You secured. In Your name, amen.

Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. O what a mercy that you have brought those two things, and whatsoever else may lie upon the conscience, directly to the Throne of Grace, confessing them in the all-prevailing name of Jesus Christ. For a broken and a contrite heart God will not despise. To acknowledge our transgressions is to step into the very path where pardon meets the penitent. You have not cloaked your sin or called it by some softer name, but you have made a clean breast of it before Him who sees all and yet is ready to blot out all for His own sake. That very act of confession is a work of His Spirit within you, for the natural man would never thus accuse himself.

Yet let not your confession stop at a mere naming of the fault, nor let it be the sorrow of a transient hour that rises only because sin has become bitter in its immediate consequence. True repentance is no passing shower but a deep and abiding loathing of the evil itself. It turns the soul inside out and purges the innermost parts, killing the love of sin so that even if it could be made profitable and sugared on both sides, you would not have it. Look to the Cross and see what those two things cost your Redeemer. That opened side is the refuge of your guilty spirit, yet it was your sin that helped to make that fearful gash. A sight of the bloody tree begets a mournful joy and a pleasurable sorrow; the more you love your Lord, the more you will hate the sin that slew Him.

But do not let a sight of your sin drive you to despair. Despair is a high insult against the majesty of divine love. There is forgiveness. Let this whisper drive away every accusing voice of the Law which says, "The soul that sins, it shall die." The Law knows no mercy, but the Gospel speaks a better word. Be your sins as black as Hell, the arm of Mercy can yet reach you. Though they are innumerable, they are all gone at once according to the riches of His grace. God, who delights in mercy, had to lay out a mint of grace before sin could be pardoned, and the price was fully paid in the precious blood of the Lamb. There could never have been any forgiveness if there had not been all those pangs on the part of the sinner's Substitute. Surely, your two transgressions must be great things to need such a great Sacrifice, but that Sacrifice is greater still. The Lord takes all the bonds of our sin and puts them into the blaze of His infinite mercy, and they disappear so that if they are searched for, they cannot be found.

Cast yourself wholly on Jesus Christ. Make sure your repentance consorts with faith, for no repentance is true but that which clings to the finished work of the Cross. You pray as if God had to be moved to mercy; it is you who need to be moved to accept the mercy already freely given. God will set you free and delight to do it, if you trust His dear Son. Stand at the Cross and see sin forgiven, and then you will repent more deeply than ever you did when you could not spy out forgiveness. The Lord has no "buts" in His forgiveness; you make a clean breast in confession and He will give you a clean breast by absolution. Go your way in peace, for there is forgiveness.

You have done well to flee to the heavenly Father, pleading forgiveness in the name of Jesus Christ. The very fact that you ask shows that the Spirit is stirring your heart toward repentance. But do not hide those two sins in the shadows of your soul. Name them before the Lord, not that He does not already know, but that you may know the depth of your debt and learn gratitude for so great a mercy. The Physician cannot heal a wound you insist on covering.

Let no one tell you that after once being washed, there is no remedy for fresh stains. That is a lie that pierces Christ afresh. The laver of baptism is the beginning, not the end, of the medicine of repentance. Did not the Apostle Paul, who called himself the chief of sinners, obtain mercy precisely so that every soul thereafter might take courage? If the blasphemer and persecutor was pardoned, the floodgates of longsuffering are thrown open for you, if you will truly turn.

But do not presume on this kindness. The same God who forgave Paul endured Pharaoh through much long-suffering, yet Pharaoh hardened himself into a vessel of wrath. It is possible to receive forgiveness, and possible to forfeit it if we return to our sins like a dog to its vomit. The heavenly gift tasted, the powers of the world to come experienced, cannot be renewed again if we keep crucifying the Son of God by obstinate unrepentance. Yet do not despair; the gate of repentance stands wide for those who fall and rise again with a contrite heart.

By what means, then, shall you be saved? Not by a hasty word only, but by the countervailing remedies. Pour out alms, even a cup of cold water or two mites, for mercy toward the poor is indispensable: without it, there is no pardon. Fast according to your strength. Pray with sincerity. And above all, forgive from the heart every offense done against you, or you have no claim on the Father’s forgiveness. Go, then, and confess your two offenses plainly, not to me, but to God, as David did when he said, “I have sinned.” Make friends of your possessions by generosity. So shall you obtain the remission you seek and find the unspeakable mercy of Christ awaiting you.

When you cry out to God for forgiveness, you are already on the path to receiving His mercy. The simple prayer you have offered, naming your need and resting in the name of Jesus Christ, touches the heart of what it means to come before Him. He does not require you to pretend the sin isn’t there, nor will He turn away from a soul that honestly acknowledges guilt. The Scripture says that whoever confesses and forsakes sin finds mercy. You have confessed two things, and the very fact that you have brought them into the open before the Lord is the doorway through which His cleansing floods in.

All sin, whether great or small in our own eyes, is ultimately against God, and we can never hide it from Him. Sometimes we may even try to hide it from ourselves, justifying what we have done or burying it deep. But you have not done that. You have brought it to the light. In the Old Testament, when someone became aware of a trespass, they were to confess it and bring a sin offering. The offering could not put away the sin by itself, but it pointed toward the perfect sacrifice that would. The covering of sin was a shadow of the true atonement. Now, because Jesus Christ offered His own blood, the debt is not merely covered, it is removed. God made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. Your prayer in Jesus’ name rests on that finished work.

Mercy is exactly what you have asked for, and mercy is what God delights to show. Mercy does not mean God ignores what was wrong, but that He has made a way for justice and peace to embrace. At the cross, the penalty your sins deserved was fully paid. The mercy seat of old was sprinkled with blood so that the sins of the people would be forgiven, and now the risen Christ is our mercy seat. When you confess from a sincere heart, God is faithful and just to forgive your sins and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness. He does so not because you have earned it, but because Jesus has purchased it. The same cry David made in his own brokenness is now yours: wash me thoroughly, blot out my transgressions. And the answer comes back just as swiftly: the Lord has put away your sin.

Do not carry these two things any longer as a weight that condemns you. The forgiveness you have sought is full and free. Yet, let this moment also be a reminder that the grace which pardons also empowers. Not only has Christ died for your sins, but you have died with Him to the old master of sin. Sin shall not have dominion over you, because you are not under law but under grace. Let that truth settle deeply: you are not defined by what you have done, and you do not need to live under the tyranny of repeated failure. The same Savior who met your need for mercy now gives you power to walk differently. Lay hold of the truth that your old self was crucified with Him, and new life, His own life, dwells in you.

Rest today in the blessedness of the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin the Lord will never count against them. God saw your prayer before you even finished it, and in Christ, the answer is already yes. You are forgiven. Go forward now, not looking back in shame, but looking up in hope, because His mercy will continue to be your refuge.
