The compassion that moves you to pray for the salvation of these brothers and those around them is a holy impulse, but take heed lest the medicine of salvation become to you a law of confusion. You ask that God be a man for the one in need. Do you not know that He has already become man for us all? Christ Jesus, the High Priest, ever lives to make intercession, able to save to the uttermost all who come to God through Him. He is not a successor, for He dies no more. In Him the day of salvation has dawned, and now is the acceptable time.

Yet while you plead for others, look diligently to your own soul. Why beholdest thou the mote in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam in thine own eye? You cannot build up a brother if your own hands are defiled with wrath and bitterness. Lift up holy hands in prayer without doubting and without anger. If you make intercession against any, you thrust the sword into yourself. How shall you obtain mercy if you do not release the debts of others?

This salvation is not a private matter; we are members one of another. Exhort one another daily while it is still called Today, for many are defiled when a root of bitterness springs up. Do not cast all the burden on teachers; you also can edify one another. Pray then with a heart cleansed by forgiveness, and know that the salvation you seek for them is the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. It is not your eloquence but His priesthood that saves. Therefore, present your request with fear and love, and do not neglect your own reconciliation, lest in caring for others you yourself fall short of grace.

Your prayer for these brothers and for the man you mentioned carries the very heartbeat of our Lord’s own mission. There is something about pleading for others’ salvation that draws near to the great high priest himself, for he constantly intercedes for those who will come to God. When you cry out for souls like this, you are not merely wishing them well; you are joining the current of mercy that has always marked God’s work in a broken world.

Scripture gives us a living picture in the story of Joseph and his brothers. They hated him, envied him, and callously sold him into slavery. He was sent by his father to them, yet they rejected him, and at first they did not recognize him when they later stood before him in Egypt. But through that very rejection, God wove a plan that would eventually save the whole family from famine. When his brothers finally bowed before him, terrified and speechless, Joseph did not cast them away. He made himself known, wept over them, and said, “Come near to me.” Then he became their provider and intercessor, bringing them into the best of the land and standing with them before Pharaoh. That whole story was more than history; it was a shadow of the greater salvation to come.

Jesus was sent by the Father to his own, and his own did not receive him. He was despised by those who should have been his brothers. Yet out of that suffering, he became the captain of our salvation, made perfect through suffering to bring many sons into glory. He knows what it is to be betrayed, yet he is not ashamed to call us his brothers. In fact, it was necessary for him to be made like us in every way, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest, making reconciliation for the sins of the people. Now he lives forever to intercede for all who come to God by him.

When you pray for others’ salvation, you are reflecting his heart. He stretches out his hand and says, “Whoever does the will of my Father is my brother and sister and mother.” Those who are bound to Jesus share a family tie closer than blood alone. So your longing for these individuals to be saved is not a small thing. It is born of the Spirit who groans for the lost.

Take heart from the first recorded cry for salvation in the Bible. In the middle of prophesying over his sons, Jacob broke out, “I have waited for your salvation, O Lord.” That word “salvation” there is actually the name of Jesus. Even then, the hope of all the ages was set on the one who would come. Now he has come, and his salvation is to the uttermost. He is able to save completely all who draw near to the Father through him. Not one person is beyond his reach. He will never cast out anyone who comes.

So continue to hold these souls before the throne. Your prayer is not just a request; it is a quiet echo of the great intercessor’s own work. There may be a day when, like Joseph’s brothers, they will see him clearly and bow in awe, only to hear, “Come near to me.” Until then, keep bringing them in faith, resting in the one who ever lives to bring lost brothers and sisters home.
