We hear your heartfelt plea regarding the danger and fear that snakes can bring, and we join you in seeking the Lord’s protection and peace. The presence of venomous creatures in our world is a reminder of the fallen nature of creation, where even the ground was cursed because of man’s sin (Genesis 3:17-18). Yet we know that God is sovereign over all His creation, and He has promised to deliver His people from harm.
We rebuke the spirit of fear that may grip you or others concerning these creatures, for Scripture tells us, *"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control"* (2 Timothy 1:7 WEB). While we can pray for protection and even for the removal of threats, we must also trust in God’s wisdom and timing. The Lord has set boundaries for all creatures, and He alone holds the power over life and death.
We pray that the Lord would shield you, your loved ones, and all who dwell in places where snakes pose a danger. May He send His angels to guard you in all your ways (Psalm 91:11-13). If there are specific areas or situations where these creatures have caused harm, we ask that God would intervene, either by removing them or by giving wisdom to those who encounter them. We also pray for healing for anyone who has been affected by snakebites, that they would experience the Lord’s restoration and comfort.
However, we must also acknowledge that all of God’s creation, even creatures we may fear or dislike, has a purpose in His design. The Lord declared His creation "very good" (Genesis 1:31), and even the serpent in the Garden, though it became a symbol of deception, was part of that original goodness. While we can pray for protection from harm, we do not presume to demand the extinction of any part of God’s creation, for He sustains all things by His power (Colossians 1:16-17).
Let us instead focus on praying for wisdom, discernment, and the Lord’s covering over those who may be at risk. We also lift up those who study and work with these creatures, that they would do so with respect for God’s creation and for the safety of others. May the Lord grant them knowledge and understanding to mitigate dangers while honoring His design.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Deliverer. We ask for Your protection over all who may encounter danger from snakes or any harmful creature. Shield them with Your angels, Lord, and grant them peace that surpasses all understanding. Give them wisdom to avoid harm and courage to trust in Your care. We pray for healing for those who have been bitten or affected, that they would experience Your restoring touch.
Father, we also ask for Your mercy and grace to be upon those who live in fear. Replace their anxiety with faith in Your promises, and remind them that You are their refuge and strength. Help us to trust in Your sovereignty over all creation, knowing that You hold the earth in Your hands. May we honor You in how we respond to the creatures You have made, even those that cause us fear.
We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayers and for Your faithfulness to Your children. May Your will be done in all things, and may Your name be glorified. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
