Anger

Would you please pray that God will give me his strength to let go of my anger. Whenever I get angry I pray. In Jesus high name .

We are so thankful you have reached out and asked us to pray with you about anger, and we rejoice that you are turning to prayer whenever you feel anger rising and that you asked in Jesus' high name, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father.

The Word tells us in John 14:6 that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life and no one comes to the Father except through Him, and in Acts 4:12 there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. Your faith to call on His name is precious and we join you in that same name.

We understand how heavy and consuming anger can feel, and we commend you for wanting God's strength to let it go rather than holding onto it. Scripture is very honest about anger. We are told in Ephesians 4:26 Be angry, and don't sin. Don't let the sun go down on your wrath, 4:27 and don't give place to the devil. And again in James 1:19 So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, 1:20 for the anger of man doesn't produce the righteousness of God. God does not condemn you for feeling the emotion, but He lovingly calls us to not be ruled by it and to release it quickly so the enemy does not gain a foothold.

We also take comfort in what we are taught in Psalm 37:8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath. Don't fret, it leads only to evildoing, and in Proverbs 16:32 He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, he who rules his spirit, than he who takes a city. God wants to replace that anger with His peace and self-control, which is part of the fruit of His Spirit working in us.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We thank You for the humble heart that desires to let go of anger and to walk in Your strength. Lord, we ask You to fill this heart with Your Holy Spirit, to grant Your peace that surpasses understanding and the power to be slow to anger and quick to forgive. Help us to put away as Colossians 3:8 teaches, anger, wrath, malice, and slander, and to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. When anger rises, remind us to pray immediately as our friend is already doing, to cast that burden on You and to speak with grace. Teach us to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other just as You also in Christ forgave us as Ephesians 4:32 shows us. Strengthen us to not let the sun go down on our wrath but to release it into Your hands each day. We ask this in the mighty and high name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to keep doing exactly what you are doing, praying the moment you feel angry. Continue to bring that feeling honestly before the Lord, confess it, and ask Him to search your heart. Memorizing and meditating on scriptures about peace and patience when you are calm will make them ready in your heart when temptation comes. If your anger has involved harsh words or actions toward others, seek to make it right quickly and ask for their forgiveness as the Lord leads. God is faithful to give you His strength as you daily surrender this area to Him, and He will grow in you a quiet and gentle spirit that honors Him.

Thank you for being honest about this struggle. We hear how much you want to honor God with how you handle anger, and the fact that you turn to prayer right when you feel it rising is a faithful step.

We have found it helps to remember anger itself is a signal that something feels wrong or hurtful, and what matters is what we do next. Letting go rarely happens all at once. There is the choice to hand it over to God, and then there is the slower work of the heart catching up as we keep bringing the same hurt back to Him. That second part can take time, and needing time does not mean you have failed.

One simple next step that helps many is to keep doing what you are doing in the moment, praying briefly, and then when you are calm later, take five minutes to ask yourself what was underneath the anger. Was it feeling disrespected, afraid, disappointed, or overtired. Naming that quietly before the Lord can make your prayers even more specific and less overwhelming.

We are praying for you and we are grateful you reached out.

Father, we lift our friend to You. Thank You that You see their desire to let go of anger and to walk in Your strength. Give them grace in the moment of anger to pause and turn to You, and give them peace as they keep trusting You with what hurts. Shape their responses to reflect Your patience and love. In Jesus name, Amen.

It is a good and hopeful thing that when anger rises within you, you turn at once to prayer, for that is the very way in which strength is renewed.

All strength apart from God is but borrowed strength and must soon fail, but to those who have no might He increases strength. The glory of our strength lies not in ourselves but in God alone, and He Himself has promised, I will strengthen them. You do well to confess your need of Him, for it is not to a Christian's credit to remain weak when the Lord stands ready to impart strength fitly and wisely for the trial at hand.

We have joined you in prayer that the Lord will give you His strength to lay aside anger and to walk in peace. We pray that as you wait upon the Lord He will renew your strength, that in prayer laying hold upon the Invisible you will find power for holy living, and that by a fresh re dedication of yourself to Him who bought you, you may go forward to renewed action. Oh to plunge into the depth of His grace and be borne up by it, breathing again your native air as one born from above.

Seek also a careful self examination before the Lord, crying with the Psalmist, Search me and know my heart, and ask Him to keep you in that peace which passes all understanding, for to go in peace shall be your strength. When the provocation comes, look again to Him whom your soul loves, trust Him entirely, setting both your strength and your weakness aside that He may use you, and He will enable you to put away anger and to put on gentleness, patience and love.

We pray that the Lord Jesus, who is your strength and your song, will keep you calm and steadfast, that you may glorify Him in your daily life by going in peace, and that the joy of the Lord may be your strength continually. In the name of Jesus Christ our only Savior we ask this, that you may be kept from sin and made more like Him.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your honesty in bringing this struggle before God is itself a grace, and your habit of turning to prayer whenever anger rises is a good and faithful path to keep.

Scripture teaches us not to retain anger but to bear all things meekly, and to be nerved and comforted by the Scriptures so that we may exhibit patience. Patience and hope produce each other, and both are strengthened when we stay rooted in God's word. We are also called into the patience of Christ, to endure as He endured, and not to be troubled but to wait on Him with steadiness even in affliction.

There is great gain in bearing meekly what provokes us. First, deliverance and mercy, second, fortitude and patience, third, mildness and benevolence toward others, and fourth, freedom from anger itself. One who learns not to be angry with those who grieve him will more readily serve those who love him, and will be delivered from the despondency and vain sorrows that anger brings. In this way we see that by hating others we punish ourselves, but by loving them we benefit our own soul.

So continue as you have begun, but also train yourself step by step. As laborers divide their work by seasons, set a rule for yourself to master unjust anger and to school yourself in forbearance, guarding what you have already gained and then adding more. When anger comes, pray at once, as you do, and also remember the Scriptures, breathe, and answer softly.

I will pray for you.

Father in heaven, we thank You for this heart that desires to be free from anger and to walk in meekness. In the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, grant strength to let go of anger and to bear all things with patience. Fill this heart with Your comfort through Scripture, with fortitude and mildness, and with the patience of Christ. Teach how to endure without being overcome, to love and not to hate, and to find peace and joy in freedom from wrath. Guard and guide each day, that anger may lose its hold and Your grace may reign. Amen.
