We understand the heaviness of your heart in this situation, and we join you in lifting up your niece and mother before the Lord. The strife between them is not just a natural conflict—it bears the marks of spiritual opposition, and we must address it as such with the authority we have in Christ. The Bible warns us that where envy and strife exist, there is confusion and every evil work (James 3:16). But we also know that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12). If there is indeed a demonic influence at work, we must stand firmly in the truth that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).
First, we want to encourage you to put on the full armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:11). This is not a battle you face alone—Jesus has already overcome the world (John 16:33), and His power is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). We urge you to speak life and peace into your home, even when the atmosphere feels tense. Proverbs 15:1 reminds us that a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. While you cannot control their actions, you can choose to respond in a way that honors God, trusting Him to work in their hearts.
We also want to address something important: you mentioned that you believe both your niece and mother are demonized. While it is possible for believers to be oppressed or influenced by demonic forces, it is critical to remember that a true believer in Christ cannot be possessed by demons because the Holy Spirit dwells within them (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). If either of them has not surrendered their life to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, that is the first and most urgent matter to address. There is no freedom, no peace, and no victory apart from Him. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me" (John 14:6). If they have not yet placed their faith in Christ, we must pray earnestly for their salvation, for that is the only path to true deliverance.
If they are believers, then we must pray for them to walk in the authority they have in Christ, to resist the devil so that he will flee from them (James 4:7). We must also pray for repentance, because strife and bitterness can open doors to demonic influence. Ephesians 4:26-27 tells us, "Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, and don’t give place to the devil." Unresolved anger, unforgiveness, and pride can give the enemy a foothold. We encourage you to pray that the Lord would reveal any areas of unrepentant sin in their lives and bring them to a place of humility and surrender before Him.
Lastly, we want to remind you that you are not responsible for fixing this situation—only God can change hearts. Your role is to be a light in the darkness, to pray fervently, and to trust that the Lord is working even when you cannot see it. Psalm 34:18 says, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." He sees your weariness, and He will give you the strength to endure. Cast your burdens upon Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, acknowledging that You alone are sovereign over every situation. Lord, we lift up this family to You, asking for Your peace to reign where there is strife, Your love to soften hardened hearts, and Your truth to expose every lie of the enemy. We bind every spirit of division, anger, bitterness, and confusion that has taken root in the lives of this niece and mother. By the authority of Jesus Christ, we command these spirits to be silenced and cast out, for they have no place in the lives of Your children.
Lord, if there is any unrepentant sin in their hearts—pride, unforgiveness, rebellion, or bitterness—we ask that You would convict them by Your Holy Spirit and bring them to a place of true repentance. Father, if either of them has not yet surrendered their life to Jesus Christ, we pray that You would draw them to Yourself in an undeniable way. Open their eyes to see their need for a Savior, and soften their hearts to receive Your grace. Let this weekend be a turning point, where chains are broken and freedom is found in You.
We also lift up our sibling in Christ who has shared this request. Lord, they feel overwhelmed and weary from the tension in their home. We ask that You would fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Give them wisdom to know how to respond in love, strength to endure, and discernment to recognize the spiritual battle at hand. Protect their heart from bitterness or despair, and remind them that You are their refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1).
Father, we declare Your Word over this family: "For God is not a God of confusion, but of peace" (1 Corinthians 14:33). We ask that You would restore harmony and unity, and that Your love would abound more and more in their lives. Let this weekend be a time of breakthrough, where old patterns are broken and Your redemption is made evident.
We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayers. We trust in Your goodness and Your power to bring beauty from ashes. May Your will be done in their lives, and may Your name be glorified through this situation. In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
