Hi. Mum was doing really well, until they put her on blood pressure tablets. They made her sleepy. When she is often them she good. Today I went in she was still in bed and hadn’t had her breakfast. She also smelled of urine. There is a nurse there, who is very cold and doesn’t talk to the patients. When my youngest brother and myself signed mum in he said he was top of the list to be called. He is always trying to take over mum’s care. Him and my other brother have been pushing for mum to go into a home since dad died. Ihave sole medical power of attorney for my mum. So anytime I tell the cold nurse anything she treats me with disdain. I think she is one giving mum the tablets. Also when I went in one of the residents was in the nurses office. It looked like she was getting a telling off. When I left the lady that was in the office was sat with another resident and looked so unhappy. I feel that we are up against evil forces.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We hear your deep concern and distress over your mother’s care, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting this heavy burden before the Lord. This situation is painful—not only because of the physical struggles your mother is facing but also because of the spiritual and relational battles unfolding around her. We see the enemy at work in division, neglect, and even what appears to be a lack of compassion in those entrusted with her well-being. Scripture warns us in Ephesians 6:12, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." This is indeed a spiritual battle, and we must fight it with the weapons God has given us—prayer, truth, and the authority of Jesus’ name.

First, we rebuke the spirit of division and control that is seeking to fracture your family. The enemy desires to sow discord, especially in vulnerable moments like this, but God calls us to unity and love. Your brothers’ push to place your mother in a home may come from a place of fear or frustration, but it is your responsibility as the one with medical power of attorney to seek God’s wisdom above all else. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." We pray that God would soften hearts and bring clarity to every decision regarding your mother’s care.

We also rebuke the spirit of neglect and coldness that seems to be present in the care facility. The treatment your mother is receiving—being left in bed, smelling of urine, and the dismissive attitude of the nurse—is unacceptable. God calls us to care for the vulnerable with compassion, as James 1:27 states, "Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world." We pray that God would expose any unrighteousness in that place and bring about a change in leadership or staff. If this nurse is indeed administering medication improperly or neglecting her duties, we ask that God would intervene swiftly.

We must also address the spiritual atmosphere you described—the resident being reprimanded and left in distress. This is a sign of a broken system, and we pray that God would bring healing and restoration to that place. Psalm 82:3-4 says, "Defend the weak, the poor, and the fatherless. Maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy. Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked." We stand on this promise as we lift your mother and the other residents before the Lord.

Now, let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this sister and her mother to You. Lord, we ask that You would surround them with Your peace and protection. We rebuke every spirit of division, neglect, and coldness that is at work in this situation. We declare that Your love and compassion will prevail in that care facility, and we ask that You would expose any unrighteousness and bring about justice for Your name’s sake.

Father, we pray for wisdom for this sister as she navigates her mother’s care. Give her discernment to know when to speak up, when to seek help, and when to trust in Your provision. We ask that You would soften the hearts of her brothers and bring unity to their family. Let them see that their mother’s well-being is the priority, and that Your will must be sought above all else.

Lord, we pray for the staff at this facility. If there is anyone who is not acting in accordance with Your love, we ask that You would convict their hearts and bring about change. Raise up compassionate caregivers who will treat the residents with dignity and respect. We also lift up the other residents, asking that You would comfort them and meet their needs.

Father, we declare that Your angels are encamped around this sister and her mother, protecting them from harm. We trust in Your promise that You will never leave nor forsake them. Strengthen this sister as she fights this battle, and remind her that she is not alone. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the only name by which we are saved and through whom we have access to You. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking God’s guidance in this matter. If the care your mother is receiving does not improve, do not hesitate to explore other options, whether that means transferring her to a different facility or arranging for in-home care. You have been entrusted with this responsibility, and you must act in a way that honors God and protects your mother’s well-being.

We also urge you to surround yourself with godly counsel—whether that be through your church, a trusted pastor, or Christian friends who can pray with you and offer wisdom. Galatians 6:2 tells us, "Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." You do not have to carry this alone.

Finally, we remind you that our ultimate hope is in Jesus Christ. He is the one who heals, restores, and brings justice. Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and trust that He is working even in the midst of this difficult situation.

We're right there with you, sister. It's heart-wrenching to see our loved ones struggle, especially when it feels like there's a lack of care or compassion involved. We've been praying for your mom and for you, asking God to intervene and bring about change in that facility. We know it's tough, but remember, God is with you every step of the way.

We've been thinking about Psalm 147:3, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." We claim this promise for your mom and for you. We pray that God would heal her physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We ask that He would bind up her wounds, both the ones we can see and the ones we can't.

We also want to encourage you to keep advocating for your mom. It's okay to be firm and persistent when it comes to her care. Remember, you're her voice in this situation. We pray that God would give you wisdom and courage as you navigate this journey.

And finally, we want to remind you to take care of yourself too. It's easy to forget about our own needs when we're focused on caring for someone else. We pray that God would give you strength, peace, and rest. You're not alone in this, and we're here for you, praying with you and for you.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
