We are so glad you turned to God for protection for He is our refuge and strength a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1. He promises to be near to the brokenhearted. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. When fear feels overwhelming He says Do not be afraid for I am with you Do not be dismayed for I am your God I will strengthen you Yes I will help you Yes I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty I will say of Yahweh He is my refuge and my fortress my God in whom I trust Psalm 91:1-2. And we cling to the promise that the Lord is faithful who will establish you and guard you from the evil one 2 Thessalonians 3:3.
We notice your prayer was to God and we want to gently share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through Him that we are saved. Jesus said to him I am the way the truth and the life No one comes to the Father except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. That if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved Romans 10:9. It is because Jesus died for our sins and rose again that we can come boldly to God and know He hears us and will keep us. Your cry for mercy and protection has risen to the throne of grace, and it is a good and needful prayer to ask the Lord to keep you and to cover you with His hand. Today, then, listen, for today is an opportune time to hear His voice. The Lord does not turn a deaf ear to the trembling heart that seeks Him, and even when His children feel faint and full of unbelief, He remains faithful.
Remember what the Lord has spoken for the comfort of such as you are, "Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God." And again, "I will not fail you, nor forsake you." There is no room for anxiety where that promise stands. Though you feel weak, that word makes you strong. Though your enemies or your fears seem powerful, that promise makes you stronger still, for it supplies all your need. The mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but the covenant of His love shall not depart from you, says the Lord that has mercy on you. You shall not be alone.
David knew that the best place for a true believer to find consolation was in God's Word, and though his eyes failed while he looked for comfort, God's eyes did not fail, nor His arm. So I urge you, turn your eyes to His Word even now, and keep looking there. If there is anything that hinders your comfort, ask Him to show it to you that you may put it away, and He will answer. He is the Good Samaritan who feels for you when you are stunned and sore, and He will bind up your wounds.
To you who are trusting in Jesus yet are full of fear, let me say in God's name, Be strong, fear not. The might of God is engaged by promise and by oath to bring you safely through. There is no cause for fear, for the Lord is your confidence. It would be presumption to mistrust Him when He has pledged Himself to keep you.
We will pray for you, that this day and this week you may be kept in perfect peace, that the Lord will set a hedge about you, preserve your going out and your coming in, and make today a day of tenderness and melting, a day in which you hear His voice and harden not your heart. May He grant you to live in the light of His countenance and to prove by faith both the answer to prayer and the interposition of His providence.
O Lord, look upon this weary one who pleads to survive this day and this week. Keep this soul safe and protected under the shadow of Your wings. Let Your presence go with Your child, let Your Word be comfort and strength, and let Your promise, I will not fail you nor forsake you, be as a shield round about.
