We hear your cry for deliverance and protection over your family, and we join you in seeking God’s mighty intervention. The Bible assures us that no weapon formed against us shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against us in judgment, we shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17). We stand on this promise as we pray, believing that God is able to break every chain of evil, generational curses, and any form of spiritual oppression that may be affecting your household.
First, we must address the reality that evil does not have power over those who are in Christ Jesus. If you or your family members have not surrendered your lives to Him, we urge you to do so now. Jesus is the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is through His blood that we have redemption and the forgiveness of sins (Ephesians 1:7). If there is unconfessed sin, unforgiveness, or idolatry in your family line, these can open doors to spiritual attack. We encourage you to examine your hearts and repent of anything that does not align with God’s Word.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we come before You on behalf of this family. We declare that Jesus is Lord over their lives, their home, and their future. We renounce every generational curse, every spirit of bad luck, and every form of evil that has sought to oppress them. We break these chains in the authority of Jesus’ name and command them to be loosed now! Your Word says that Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (Galatians 3:13). We claim this truth over this family today.
Lord, we ask You to send Your angels to encamp around them, to protect them from every scheme of the enemy (Psalm 91:11). We pray for a hedge of protection around each family member, that no harm or evil would come near them. We declare that their steps are ordered by You, and that You will cause all things to work together for their good (Romans 8:28).
Father, if there is any unrepentant sin, idolatry, or unforgiveness in this family, reveal it to them so they may turn from it and walk in Your ways. Cleanse them with the blood of Jesus and fill them with Your Holy Spirit. We pray for a fresh outpouring of Your presence in their lives, that they may know You more deeply and walk in the victory You have already won for them.
We also pray for wisdom and discernment for this family. Show them how to resist the devil so that he will flee from them (James 4:7). Teach them to stand firm in their faith, putting on the full armor of God so they can take their stand against the devil’s schemes (Ephesians 6:11).
Finally, Lord, we thank You for Your faithfulness. We trust that You are working even now to bring deliverance, healing, and restoration to this family. May they experience Your peace that surpasses all understanding and walk in the freedom that is theirs in Christ Jesus. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Something as simple as, “Lord Jesus, I belong to You, and I ask You to cover my family right now,” and then moving on to something else, can break the cycle of anxious searching.

The notion of “bad luck” is a heathen fancy and has no place in the vocabulary of faith. You speak of an evil upon your family, whether on one person or generational, that you would have removed. Let us bring this into the light of Scripture. If this evil comes apart from Divine permission, where are we? How can a trial be met which is independent of Divine rule and outside of the sacred zone of Providential government? It is a hopeful thing when we find that all our ills lie within the fence of Omnipotent overruling. The Lord has chastened you, perhaps sorely, but the hand is a Father’s hand and the purpose is merciful. Do not ascribe power to a phantom curse as though it operated outside of Jehovah’s will.
The real curse that should make the soul tremble is not a family shadow but the curse of the broken Law. Those who think they are not guilty and need not to be saved by Divine Grace are under that very curse. Yet, O wonder of wonders, the Deliverance is provided. God Himself has found a ransom. Christ was made a curse for us, for it is written, Cursed is everyone that hangs on a tree. He bore the rolling thunder of threatened wrath so that we might be delivered from the power of darkness and translated into the kingdom of God’s dear Son. Do you see your deepest need? It is not to be rid of temporal misfortune first, but to be delivered from the guilt and power of sin. Deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. When the Lamb was slain, the captives were set free.
You ask for this evil to be put away permanently and for safety. Our safety lies in the keeping of the Great Shepherd. That deliverance of God is an eternal one, nor shall the infernal lion ever be able to rend one sheep or lamb that the Lord deigns to keep. Do not doubt your deliverance, for God has said it: “I have found a ransom.” If the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. You speak of “Amen” as though by a word you would command it. Yet the heart must first bow in penitent trust to the Divine Deliverer. The Lord keep your faith alive, and then whatever trials surge around you, you will sit on the Rock of Ages, above the waves, and joyfully sing praises. The low tree, fostered by the Husbandman, shall mount even to the stars.
Search out your own heart. Have you ever known true penitence? Nowadays we have so many who were never penitent, who crave deliverance from trouble but not from sin. He will obtain a clearer knowledge of the evil of sin through these very exercises. He feels that if he ever rises from his despondency, he can never dare to take an atom of the honor of deliverance to himself, it must be of Free Grace only. He can do nothing and he knows it. Pray then for a full deliverance which begins with the pardon of sin through the precious blood and goes on to break every fetter of iniquity. Your safety is in Christ alone, not in the absence of trial, but in the presence of the Deliverer who has overcome the world.

Do not think of your trials as mere bad luck or some curse that clings to your family like a stain. For what is this evil you speak of but the common affliction of our fallen nature, which grace alone can remedy? As I have said, Christ gave Himself for our sins that He might deliver us out of this present evil world. The safety you seek is not found in the removal of every hardship but in remaining with Him who is the Light. If he who sees the light of this world is in safety, how much more he who is with Christ and does not separate himself from Him?
Consider how God orders things: the very instruments by which we seem hurt become the means of our benefit. Joseph’s mistress sought his ruin, yet by her scheming she placed him in a state of true safety, for the prison proved gentler than the house where that wild beast dwelt. His brethren sold him, but they freed him from daily envy and machinations. When he was in honor, then was he in danger; when in dishonor, then was he in safety. So do not measure your security by outward ease, but by closeness to the true Master. If some evil has been done, whether by ancestors or others, you are not responsible for the sins of another unless you embrace them. But examine your own conscience. The evil that truly harms is not misfortune but sin. For he who is conscious of no evil shall suffer nothing dreadful in the ultimate sense; only he who does evil shall suffer.
As for the evils that come from others, if you would be revenged on a wrongdoer, do not retaliate. Leave him unpunished, for the evil speaker first disgraces himself. And if you are led by evil rulers, whether men or spiritual powers, know that it is better to be led by no one than by one who is evil, for the latter will lead you into the pit of destruction. Seek therefore the ruler who is Christ.
Your prayer for safety is right, but let it be safety not from every earthly trouble but from the evil one and from the snares of sin. “Supply your lack of service toward me,” as Paul might say: if you have neglected virtue, supply it now by patient endurance and almsgiving. If your wealth, however gained, is used for the poor, it loses its power to ensnare. For the earth is the Lord’s and its fullness; what you hold is common property with your fellow-servants. So distribute to the needy, and thus bless your household not by chasing shadows of curses but by doing good. Your endurance under trial will refute the calumniator, and your safety will stand not in escaping evil report but in bearing it nobly, for to be struck and not spiritually hurt is far greater than never to feel the blow. Pray then for grace, not merely for the lifting of every burden, but that you and your family may consent to God’s law inwardly and delight in what is good, and He will make even your present troubles work for your good.
