Now, when we pray for someone who is sick or in a dire situation, we should indeed pray in faith, believing that God can and will act according to His will and purpose. However, it's important to understand that our faith is in God, not in the outcome we desire. In other words, we trust God to do what is best, even if it's not what we want.
When we pray for someone who is severely ill, we should pray for healing, believing that God can heal. But we should also be prepared to accept God's will, even if it means that the person does not recover. This is not lack of faith, but trust in God's sovereignty. Remember what Jesus prayed in the garden of Gethsemane, Saying, Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done. Luke 22:42 WEB.
Moreover, when we pray together, we should be in agreement. In Matthew 18:19 WEB, Jesus says, Again, assuredly I tell you, that if two of you will agree on earth concerning anything that they will ask, it will be done for them by my Father who is in heaven. This doesn't mean we demand a specific outcome, but that we trust God together for His will to be done.
Lastly, we want to address the importance of praying in Jesus' name. In John 14:13-14 WEB, Jesus says, Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it. It's only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Also, there is no other name by which we can be saved.
