Alzheimer, diabetes

We lift up your precious mother to the Lord together and we join you in asking for His healing touch upon her body and mind. We know how heavy it is to watch a beloved mother struggle with Alzheimer's and with diabetes, to see her memory fade and her orientation to time and place become confused, and we bring her before our compassionate Father who sees her and loves her dearly.

We pray for her healing and for His sustaining grace in her older years, for He has promised, Even to old age I am he, and even to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear. Yes, I will carry, and will deliver you. Isaiah 46:4. We cling also to the truth that He is the one who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases. Psalm 103:3, and that by His wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53:5. We ask that He would restore what has been weakened, for He says, For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh. Jeremiah 30:17.

We pray together now, Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and we lift up this dear mother to You. Lord, You know her by name, You formed her and You have carried her through all her years. We ask for Your mercy upon her mind, that You would bring clarity to her memory and restore her orientation and peace. Lay Your healing hand upon her brain and upon every cell affected by this disease. We also ask for healing and balance in her body from diabetes, that her blood sugar would be regulated and her strength renewed. You are Yahweh who heals us. Exodus 15:26. Comfort her with Your presence so that even in confusion she may feel Your peace that passes all understanding, and let her know she is held and not forgotten. We also lift up her child who loves her and honors her, give wisdom to doctors and caregivers, provide patience, strength and hope for each day, and help us to honor our father and mother as You have commanded. Exodus 20:12. We ask all of this according to Your perfect will, trusting in Your power and Your love, in Jesus name, Amen.

We want to encourage you to continue to seek good medical care and wise stewardship of her health alongside prayer, for the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. James 5:15, and God often works through the hands of physicians and caregivers. Continue to speak gently to her, to remind her of Scripture, to play hymns and to surround her with love, for even when memory fades, the spirit can still be ministered to by Your presence and by loving care. We also remember the promise that those who are planted in Yahweh's house will still produce fruit in old age. They will be full of sap and green. Psalm 92:14.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly share why we pray in His name. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God, for Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. It is through believing in Jesus, that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord, that we are saved and our prayers are heard. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9. We encourage you to place your trust fully in Jesus Christ, both for your own salvation and as you intercede for your mother, for He is our healer, our hope, and our peace. We stand with you in faith, asking God to show His mercy and strength in this difficult season, and we trust Him to do what is best for her according to His perfect love and will.

We are so sorry to hear about your mom and we are holding you both in prayer. Watching a parent struggle with memory and with finding her way in time and space is heartbreaking, and managing diabetes on top of that adds another layer of worry and daily care. It is a lot to carry as her child.

One thing we have seen with families walking through memory loss is how much roles slowly shift and how isolating it can feel for everyone. It helps not to carry it alone. If you have not already, please keep her regular doctors involved alongside prayer and let them know about any changes you see. They can walk with you on next steps.

It can also help to have one or two trusted people to share the load, whether family, a friend from church, or her care team, so you can get rest and she has familiar support. Even simple things like keeping daily routines steady and keeping important information in one place for appointments can ease some of the day to day strain.

We are praying for you and your mom now.

Father, we lift this dear mother to You in Jesus name. You know her by name and You see her needs. We ask for Your gentle presence with her, for wisdom for her doctors and for her family as they care for her, and for strength and peace for you as you love her through this season. Keep her safe and held in Your care. Amen.

Your request concerning your dear aged mother has been brought before the Lord with tender sympathy, and we join our hearts with yours in seeking His gracious help for her affliction of memory and body.

We very speedily care for bodily diseases, for they are painful and pressing, and they rightly urge us to seek the Physician, yet how sweet to know that there is a heavenly Physician whose power is above all earthly skill. There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the very leaves of the Tree of Life are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. His leaves change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before.

We are reminded that healing and forgiveness are placed in happy conjunction. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you, and pardon and healing were one. So we pray first for the soul, that your mother may know the pardon that comes through Christ alone, for the Sun of Righteousness has risen with healing in His wings, and where He dwells there is light and health. The Lord has begun to heal His people and the healing virtue which His grace infuses will work health and cure till we shall be without spot or wrinkle, and His salvation will also perfectly heal our bodies, whether in this life according to His wise will, or in the resurrection when all infirmity shall be done away.

We therefore bring your mother before that great conduit Head from which abundant streams of healing flow down to those below, and we entreat Him for her.

O Lord our God, look in compassion upon this aged handmaiden. Thou knowest her frame and her many days, Thou seest the cloud that has come upon her mind, the dimming of memory and the wandering of time and place, and the burden of diabetes upon her body. Lay Thy healing hand upon her. If it be Thy will, restore to her clearness of thought and steadiness of health, ease her sufferings and give skill to those who care for her. Above all, let her know Thy presence and Thy pardon through Jesus Christ, that whether in strength or in weakness she may rest in Thy love. Sustain her children who watch over her, give them patience, wisdom and tender strength for each day. Let Thy will be done in her as in heaven, and let Thy grace be sufficient for her and for all who love her.

We encourage you to continue in prayer and in the use of all lawful means, looking to Christ in faith, for faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Cast your burden upon Him who cares for you, and trust that whatever He appoints is ordered in love. He took the hand of Peter's wife's mother when she lay sick of a fever and lifted her up, and there was contact and healing, so may He take your mother's hand in His own time and way.

May the Lord hear your cry and grant you peace as you wait upon Him.
