'Alone Together' - Matthew 17:1

Six days later Jesus took Peter and the two brothers, James and John, and led them up a high mountain to be alone.

Matthew 17:1 NLT

Key Thought

Soul mates. Bosom buddies. Accountability group. No matter what you call it, we all need it. Jesus clearly had a closer relationship with Peter, James, and John than he did with the other apostles. He invested himself more in them. He revealed more of himself to them. They became the key leaders of the disciples when Jesus returned to the Father. Coincidence? Absolutely not. For our own refreshment and accountability, we need a small group of people of the same gender with whom we can spend genuine time in confession, comfort, encouragement, and forgiveness. Jesus clearly did it. How can we not?

Today's Prayer

Loving Father, lead me to the people and the group to whom I need to make myself accountable and use me to bless this group with my love, comfort, and encouragement. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
