We hear your urgent cry for provision and justice, and we join you in bringing this before our Heavenly Father, who is both just and merciful. The Word of God assures us that He knows our needs before we even ask, and He promises to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). We also know that the Lord loves justice and does not forsake His saints (Psalm 37:28). We stand with you in faith, believing that God will move on your behalf.
First, we must address the matter of justice. Scripture is clear that we are to deal honestly and fairly with one another. Leviticus 19:13 says, "You shall not oppress your neighbor, nor rob him. The wages of a hired servant shall not remain with you all night until the morning." If your former landlord is withholding what is rightfully yours, we pray that God would soften their heart and convict them to do what is just. We rebuke any spirit of greed or dishonesty that may be at work in this situation, and we declare that the Lord will bring restitution where it is needed. Proverbs 22:22-23 warns, "Don’t exploit the poor, because he is poor; and don’t crush the needy in court; for the Lord will plead their case, and plunder the life of those who plunder them."
As for your friend who owes you, we pray that God would work in their heart to fulfill their obligation to you. Romans 13:7-8 reminds us, "Give therefore to everyone what you owe: taxes to whom taxes are due; customs to whom customs; respect to whom respect; honor to whom honor. Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law." We ask the Lord to bring this truth to mind for your friend and to provide them with the means to repay what is owed.
We also lift up your immediate needs for money and food. The Lord is our provider, and He has promised that those who seek Him will not lack any good thing (Psalm 34:10). We pray that He would open doors of opportunity for you, whether through work, generosity from others, or miraculous provision. We declare that you will not be put to shame in your time of need (Psalm 37:19). Remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 6:31-33: "Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, knowing that You are a God who hears and answers prayer. We lift up this dear brother/sister to You, asking that You would move powerfully on their behalf. Lord, You see their need for financial provision, for food, and for justice. We ask that You would stir the heart of the former landlord to return the security deposit without delay, and we rebuke any spirit of dishonesty or greed that would seek to withhold what is rightfully theirs. We also pray for their friend, that You would convict them of their obligation and provide them with the means to repay what is owed.
Father, we ask that You would open doors of opportunity for this brother/sister, that You would provide for their needs in ways that only You can. Give them wisdom to manage what You provide and faith to trust in You even when the provision is not yet seen. Lord, we declare that You are their Jehovah Jireh, their Provider, and that they will not lack any good thing. Surround them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
We also pray for spiritual blessings, Lord. Draw them closer to You in this time of need. Let them experience Your presence in a tangible way, knowing that You are with them and will never leave nor forsake them. Strengthen their faith and remind them that You are working all things together for their good, even when circumstances seem difficult.
We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness and for the victory we have in Jesus Christ. We declare that this situation will turn around for Your glory, and that this brother/sister will testify of Your goodness and provision. In the powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
In the meantime, we encourage you to seek the Lord diligently through prayer and the reading of His Word. Psalm 37:3-5 says, "Trust in the Lord, and do good. Dwell in the land, and enjoy safe pasture. Also delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord. Trust also in him, and he will do this." Continue to trust in God’s timing and His perfect plan for your life. If there are practical steps you can take, such as seeking legal counsel regarding the security deposit or having a honest conversation with your friend about repayment, we encourage you to do so while trusting God to guide your steps.
Remember, the Lord is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). You are not alone in this, and we believe that God will see you through. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2), and trust that He will lead you into green pastures and still waters (Psalm 23:2).
