The weight you are carrying is heavy, and the cry of your heart is heard. You have asked for forgiveness for all your sins, and that is the one need that towers above every other. Before the physical pain, before the financial strain, before the grief that tears at your soul, the settling of your account with God is primary. The good news is that Jesus did not come to offer healing for the spirit alone, as if His work was only for some inner, invisible part of us. When He went through every city and village, He was healing every sickness and every disease among the people. The prophecy He fulfilled included the taking of our infirmities and the bearing of our physical pains. His suffering on your behalf reaches all the way into the place where your hernia is aching and your back is throbbing. He understands physical affliction deeply. He is not a distant deity; He is a compassionate High Priest who is touched by the feeling of your weaknesses.

You asked for protection from the evil that seems to be pressing in, and it is wise to pray for that. We live in a world where dark spiritual forces are real, forces that Jesus Himself commanded with absolute authority. He set multitudes free who were oppressed, and the powers of darkness had to obey Him. Yet there is a vital truth to remember: it is not enough to simply have an evil driven away. If a spirit is cast out and finds the house swept and empty, with nothing godly put in its place, it may return with even greater strength. The protection you seek is not found in emptiness, but in being filled with the presence and the truth of Christ. Fleeing from evil is commanded, but you must also run toward your Savior, letting your inner life be so occupied by Him that there is no room left for darkness to take up residence again.

Your grief for the one you lost is a sorrow that Jesus knows personally. He was a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. In the culture of Scripture, mourning was not a quiet, hidden thing; it was expressed openly, deep wailing that told the whole community a heart was broken. Do not think your tears are unseen. Just as He was moved with compassion for the hungry crowds in the wilderness, He is moved by the void you now feel. The loss of a companion of ten years leaves a wound that He alone can bind up. While you walk through that valley, He has spoken words of comfort to your heart, and He asks you to bring that burden to Him again and again.

The pain you are enduring may not lift all at once. There are times when a healing is gradual, like the blind man whose sight returned in stages as Jesus touched him a second time. Do not lose heart if you still feel the ache tomorrow. Continue to call upon Him, trusting that His power is at work. The request for financial and spiritual blessing is heard, but seek first the kingdom. The world offers a path that looks thrilling at its entrance, but the end of that path is always grief. The Lord preserves those who listen to Him, and departing from evil brings health to the body and nourishment to the bones.

Jesus knows everything you have said and everything you have not said. You are naked and open before Him, and there is no hiding. Yet the One who sees all also loves utterly. Call upon Him to be near, to bring His power into your desperate situation, and to deliver you from those things that are too strong for you. May you find that He holds you up even now, and may you come to know the quiet safety of dwelling in His care, free from the fear of evil.
