'All of You!' - Mark 14:27

On the way, Jesus told [the Twelve], "All of you will desert me. For the Scriptures say,
'God will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.'"

Mark 14:27 NLT

Key Thought

Jesus knows that he will face the horrors of the cross alone. He has no illusions about what will happen. Scripture has foretold it. His heart knows it. He lies on the verge of experiencing it. In Ray Overholt's hymn, "Ten Thousand Angels," the truth of Jesus' words are powerfully recognized:

"He could have called ten thousand angels
To destroy the world and set Him free.
He could have called, ten thousand angels,
But He died alone, for you and me."

Jesus knows his death is coming. He knows he will be betrayed, abandoned, denied, and crucified. He goes through it all anyway... for us.

Today's Prayer

Loving Father and Almighty God, I am humbled by the incredible and sacrificial love your Son demonstrated for me, and I appreciate all that he did for me. Please accept my life as my "thank you" for such incredible grace. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
