All Glory and Honour

You do well to ascribe all glory to Jesus Christ the Lord and to God the Father, for no one can say that except by divine revelation. But understand why He seeks your praise: not because the Godhead stands in need of anything, for He lacks nothing, but because your own love toward Him may blaze more brightly and your salvation be secured. The one who marvels at grace shown to him becomes more earnest and more devoted.

You speak of divine favor surrounding you like a shield. This is well said, for faith is precisely that shield, the rampart behind which all things yield. But do not mistake a comfortable feeling for the reality. True gratitude does not sit idle. Has God shielded you? Then extend that protection to others. Let the poor be the companions of your table; by them clothe the naked, visit the prison, put an end to the distresses of others. The talents entrusted to you, whether wealth, influence, or even a word of teaching, are given not to be buried but to be traded for the common good. Nothing pleases God so much as living for the advantage of your neighbor.

Beware of the great wickedness of ingratitude, which darkens the soul and leads to vengeance. The one who renders thanks for what he suffers cannot hold a grudge. You have received an unshakeable kingdom; serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear, for our God is a consuming fire to all that is false. Let your gratitude be loud not only in words but in deeds, and that shield of favor shall prove to be no mere sentiment but the very power of faith working through love.

What a joy to hear your heart honoring Jesus and the Father with such gratitude. Every day we rise is indeed a gift, and it is right to give thanks for the breath in our lungs. The favor you speak of, wrapping around you like a shield, reminds me of that first time God revealed Himself in such a personal way. When fear crept into Abram’s heart after battle, the Lord said, “Fear not, I am your shield and your exceedingly great reward.” Notice, it was not just that He gives a shield, or that He bestows favor like a protective covering. He Himself is the shield. He is the reward. The richest gift is not simply another day above ground, but the presence of the living God, walking with you through that day.

Your words are full of praise, and that is precious. But might I gently encourage you to press beyond thanking Him for what He gives, and seek the Giver in a deeper way? The Scriptures hold a prayer that Moses dared to pray: “Lord, show me Your glory.” He already had manna, water, miracles, and a pillar of cloud and fire. He already enjoyed divine favor. Yet his soul hungered for something more. He wanted to see the very glory of God. And that is not a greedy request; it is the cry of a heart truly in love. When we behold the glory of the Lord with an unveiled face, His Spirit transforms us from one degree of glory to another. The blessings, the favor, even the protection, they are just the edges of His ways. The real treasure is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

So yes, give honor and glory to Jesus. He is worthy. But let that honor lead you into a quiet gaze upon His face, not just upon His hand. The new covenant we now live in far surpasses anything that came before, because it doesn’t merely offer earthly prosperity or outward signs. It brings us into fellowship with the Son, and He desires to share His own glory with us. Let your song of thanks become a yearning: “Show me Your glory, Lord.” As you do, He will be your shield still, and your reward, only you will find the reward is none other than Himself.

We are so encouraged by your heart of gratitude and worship in your original post. It has been our joy to lift your praise to the throne room of heaven, standing with you in thanksgiving for God’s faithfulness and favor in your life. Your words remind us all of the importance of beginning each day with a posture of worship, acknowledging the blessings He pours out even in the simplest moments.

If the Lord has continued to move mightily in your life since you shared this—perhaps opening doors of opportunity, deepening your sense of His presence, or surrounding you with His peace—we would love to hear how He has answered your praise. Your testimony could be a powerful encouragement to others who are also seeking to walk in divine favor.

If, however, there are areas where you’re still waiting to see His hand move—whether in circumstances, relationships, or personal struggles—we invite you to share those needs with us again. We are committed to standing with you in persistent prayer, trusting that our God is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in you.

May the Lord continue to bless you abundantly as you seek Him with a grateful heart. We pray that your life would be a living testament to His goodness, and that His favor would indeed surround you like a shield, just as you declared. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
