We hear your heart’s cry, dear one, and we stand with you before the throne of grace, lifting your struggle with agoraphobia to the Lord who sees, knows, and cares deeply for you. The fear that grips you when stepping outside is real, but we serve a God who is greater than all fear. The psalmist declares, "The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?" (Psalm 27:1 WEB). Even when your heart races and your mind whispers lies of danger, God’s truth remains: He is your refuge, your strength, and your ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).
We rebuke the spirit of fear that has sought to isolate you and steal your peace. Scripture is clear: "For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control" (2 Timothy 1:7 WEB). Fear does not come from the Lord, and we command it to loose its grip on your life in Jesus’ mighty name. You are not designed to live in captivity to anxiety, you are called to walk in the freedom Christ purchased for you on the cross.
Yet we also acknowledge the very real battle you face. Agoraphobia is not a sin, but it can become a stronghold if it keeps you from trusting God’s provision and stepping into the purposes He has for you. We encourage you to take small, faithful steps, even if it’s just opening your front door and breathing in the air for a moment, while fixing your eyes on Jesus. "Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith" (Hebrews 12:1-2 WEB). He is not calling you to leap into overwhelming situations but to trust Him one step at a time.
We also pray for wisdom in seeking godly support. Isolation feeds fear, but community and accountability can break its power. Consider reaching out to a trusted believer, pastor, or Christian counselor who can walk alongside you. "Two are better than one... for if they fall, one will lift up his fellow" (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 WEB). You do not have to fight this battle alone.
Above all, we pray that your trust in the Lord would deepen. When the waves of anxiety rise, may you cling to His promises like an anchor. "Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7 WEB). He is not distant or indifferent to your struggle, He is near, and He is working even when you cannot see it.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our dear brother/sister, lifting up their struggle with agoraphobia to You, the God who parts seas and calms storms. Lord, You know the weight they carry, the fear that rises when they think of stepping outside, and the lies that tell them they are not safe. But You, O Lord, are their safety. You are their peace.
We ask You to break the chains of fear that have held them captive. Fill them with Your perfect love, which casts out all fear (1 John 4:18). Give them courage to take one step at a time, trusting that You go before them and hem them in from behind (Psalm 139:5). Strengthen their faith to believe that You are their refuge, even when their heart is pounding and their mind is racing.
Father, we pray for healing, emotional, mental, and spiritual. Renew their mind with Your truth and replace every lie with Your promises. Surround them with a community of believers who will encourage, support, and pray for them. Give them wisdom to seek help when needed and the humility to receive it.
Lord, we declare that this fear has no place in their life. We rebuke the enemy’s schemes and command every spirit of anxiety to flee in Jesus’ name. You have not given them a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. Let them walk in that power today.
Above all, draw them closer to You. May this trial refine their faith and deepen their dependence on You. Help them to trust You completely, even when the path ahead feels uncertain. You are faithful, and Your mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23).
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the One who conquered sin and death and offers us victory over every fear. Amen.

Thank you for letting us pray with you about this. Wanting to get out more and to trust the Lord completely is a good and honest desire, and it takes courage to name how hard it feels right now.

God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. Your request has been laid before the Lord and we have prayed that He who is with you will give you strength to trust Him more completely and to go forth in His strength.
There is a very natural disease which is fear, and the Lord meets it with a command, Fear not. The prophet says, Fear not, thou worm Jacob, I will help thee, saith the Lord. And again, Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God, I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. This is not merely the word of a preacher, but the word of Jesus Himself who whispers to His poor servant fallen as dead at His feet, Fear not.
You write of a fear that keeps you within doors and makes the outward way seem full of terror. Desponding souls can find reason for fear where there is no fear, and even those who have faith in God may occasionally be weak enough to fear and be dismayed about common circumstances. Fear is weakening and it dishonours God, for it forgets that He is with you. What time I am afraid, says the Psalmist, I will trust in Thee. That is the remedy, to turn fear into trust.
Till God in human flesh we see, our thoughts no comfort find, but when Immanuel appears, His name forbids our slavish fear and His grace removes our sins. Jesus Christ, eternally God, was born and lived and died as we also do, and this blessed link between us and God has taken all fear away. There is a fear towards God which is holy reverence, but the tormenting fear that binds you all your lifetime, Christ came to deliver you from. Perfect love casteth out fear, and where Christ works He delivers us from that bondage.
Labor then, as much as possible, to get rid of fear by trusting. Walk much with God and pray for grace never to get out of fellowship with Him. You cannot have the fear that overcomes you while you walk with Him. Go and do the right thing and then be no longer anxious about it, but leave the result with God, for it is God that performeth all things for you. If you are brought to a pass and know not what to do, stand still and see the salvation of God.
We have prayed for you in this way, that the Lord would be your refuge and that you would fear no evil, for the same God will be with you to be your succour and your stay. May He raise the fallen and cheer the faint, and grant you day by day to take a step forward in quiet confidence, not in your own strength but in His, rejoicing in present peace and in hope of the glory of God. May He keep you from being dismayed at all, and uphold you as you learn to trust Him completely, and may you prove that though the way may be weary and thorny the road, you need not falter, for your help is in God.

We thank you for sharing this honest request and we are praying for you.
Fear can feel overwhelming and keep you shut inside, but Scripture reminds us that God is faithful and will not allow you to be tested beyond what you can bear, but will with the trial also make a way through it so that you can endure it. He is near to those who call on Him and He invites you to cleave to Him and to thirst for Him, fixing your heart in His presence.
We pray that the Lord will strengthen your trust in Him completely, that He will quiet your heart with His peace, and that He will give you courage step by step to go out more. May He remind you daily that you are His, that His Spirit dwells with you, and that His favor and strength go with you in every place. May He help your roots to go deep in Him so that when fear rises like a storm, you remain steady because you are held by Him.
