Thank you for sharing this struggle so honestly. To feel defiled and weary after many years of this battle is painful, and God hears that cry for freedom. He does not turn away from a heart that wants to be clean and to seek Jesus, and there is hope for permanent change through His grace.

Scripture teaches that we are created anew in Christ in righteousness and holiness of truth, not just outwardly but inwardly. That new creation is meant to be lived out with all purity, in thought and deed and conscience. Purity is not only avoiding the outward act, but guarding the heart so that there is not even a place for suspicion or lingering desire. God calls us to this because He loves us and because sexual intimacy belongs within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and all other expressions fall short of His design and defile us.

The Lord does more than simply rescue us from consequences. He teaches us to despise sin itself and to set our minds on immortality and holiness, so that sin loses its power over us. He also invites us to come near with a pure conscience, and when we fail, He provides correction and deliverance from sin that is for our healing and consolation, not our condemnation.

I will pray for you now, and I encourage you to continue to walk this out with practical steps as well.

Father in heaven, I lift up this dear one to You through Jesus Christ Your Son, who alone is our salvation. You see the years of struggle and the deep desire to be free. Have mercy and grant true repentance and strength to turn away permanently from pornography. Wash and cleanse this heart, create in him a new heart in righteousness and holiness, and renew his mind by Your Spirit and Your Word. Give him hatred for sin and love for purity, and teach him to guard his eyes, his thoughts, and his steps with all purity. Provide trusted brothers, accountability, and help to remove every source of temptation, and when he is tempted, make a way of escape. Restore to him joy in seeking Jesus, peace of conscience, and hope that he is not defined by past defilement but by Christ who makes us clean. Keep him close to You each day, and lead him into freedom that lasts. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Do not walk this alone. Confess to a mature and trusted pastor or believer who can pray with you regularly and hold you accountable, put clear barriers in place with devices and habits, fill your mind daily with Scripture, and seek fellowship where you can be an example in word, conduct, love, faith and purity. If you fall, do not stay in shame but quickly confess, receive forgiveness, and get up again. God is faithful to complete the work He has begun as you continue to seek Him.

Thank you for sharing this so honestly. The pain and sense of being defiled that you describe is real, and God hears your desire to be free and to seek Jesus. That desire itself is evidence that He is already at work in you.

What you are facing is not a small habit or a lack of willpower. It is a form of captivity. Like alcohol or drugs, pornography can take a person and make him a slave. It holds in a tight grip that you cannot break on your own, and it tends to be progressive, always wanting more and drawing you deeper. Scripture is clear that any sexual activity outside the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman is outside God's design, and opening the door to pornography awakens desires that press a person toward that broken pattern.

God wants purity for His people, not because He wants to condemn you, but because He loves you and knows that even a little impurity spreads and wounds the whole life. In the early church God guarded that purity with great seriousness, because a pure people is a powerful people. Yet even when believers are still carnal and struggling with the power of the flesh, Scripture still calls those who have trusted in Christ His own, babes in Christ whom He intends to grow and strengthen.

Part of why this feels so horrible is guilt. Guilt creates a cycle where you feel frustration and failure, you try to escape, you feel guilt again, you want punishment to relieve the guilt, and then the cycle repeats. No human counsel can fully remove that heavy weight. But the gospel can. When Jesus died on the cross He took your sin and your guilt upon Himself and paid the penalty for it. If you trust in Him, He does not just cover guilt, He takes it away and cleanses you completely. As David discovered, when he stopped covering his sin and confessed it, the heavy hand of guilt was lifted and his relationship with God was restored. God then says, I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go.

Your deliverance can be a momentous turning point like the deliverance of God's people from bondage in Egypt, an event they were to remember all their lives as proof that God saves and sets free. God has been preparing you for this moment to walk in freedom.

Our only sufficient power against this kind of bondage is prayer and the work of the Holy Spirit, along with walking honestly in the light. I encourage you to bring this fully to Jesus every day, asking Him for deliverance and for a clean heart. Stay in the Scriptures, let Him teach you. Cut off access wherever you can, remove sources of temptation from your home and devices, and bring another faithful believer into your confidence who can pray with you and ask you hard questions in love. Do not walk alone.

Father, I bring this dear one before You in the name of Jesus. You see the long struggle and the honest cry to be free and to seek You. Lord, have mercy and bring deliverance. Break the power of this captivity and loose the chains that have held so long. Forgive and cleanse through the blood of Jesus, lift the weight of guilt and shame, and give a new mind and a pure heart. Fill this life with Your Holy Spirit, teach and guide step by step in the way to go, and make this a lasting freedom that is remembered as the day You set Your child free. Strengthen faith to trust in Jesus alone for salvation and for daily victory. In Jesus name, Amen.

You are not beyond hope. Keep seeking Jesus, keep turning to Him when you are tempted, and trust that He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.
