Thank you for sharing this heavy burden and for interceding for your friend. It is right to bring this kind of workplace wrong before the Lord, because He cares deeply about justice and truth.
Scripture tells us to keep judgment and do justice, to live in a fair and honest way without cheating or conniving or taking advantage of others. God says the person who does what is right and fair in this way is blessed. That is the path He wants for your friend, to continue doing the right thing even when it is difficult, and it is also the standard He holds over every employer and employee. Your friend's concern for customers, his desire not to leave people uncared for or to cover up what is wrong, reflects that heart for doing what is just and merciful, and that is more acceptable to the Lord than any outward religious act. God desires truth, mercy and a humble heart that seeks to do right.
At the same time the Bible is honest that in this world justice often stands far off. Truth can fall in the street and fairness cannot enter, even in places where justice should prevail, like courts and workplaces. When justice is perverted the whole order breaks down. Many people have learned that human systems, including legal processes and courts, do not always guarantee perfect justice, and those who must appeal to judges and authorities need God's help. It can feel like no one is calling for justice and no one is pleading for truth, while some trust in empty words and hide what is wrong.
But God Himself does not pervert judgment and He does not pervert justice. He is righteous and just, even when the enemy challenges His fairness and when we cannot understand all that is happening. He sees what is done in secret, He takes up the cause of the poor and oppressed, and He has said to do justice for the afflicted and needy and to deliver them from the hand of the wicked. Those who act as judges over others will themselves be judged by Him, for He is the true Judge who will not be mocked.
We also remember that justice means receiving what is deserved, while mercy means not receiving what is deserved, and grace means receiving what we do not deserve. All of us need mercy before God, and that mercy and truth met together at the cross where Jesus bore the penalty for our sins so that God's righteous demand for justice was satisfied and we could have peace with Him. That does not excuse wrongdoing, but it reminds us that God is both just and merciful, and we can come to Him for both justice and mercy.
So let us pray for your friend.
Lord Jesus, we bring this friend before You. You know his struggle with OCD and the weight it brings at work and in daily life. We ask for Your peace over his mind, for strength and clarity, and for wise and compassionate help, including proper care and support and any reasonable accommodation that is truly needed to help him work with dignity. Give him wisdom to navigate the process with honesty and integrity, and give those who review his case fairness and discernment.
We ask You to shine light on what is hidden. Where illegal actions have been done and where he is being made a scapegoat and thrown under the bus, bring the truth into the open. Stop the wrongdoing and the cover up. Move on the hearts of those in authority to do what is right, to stop hiding what is wrong, and to act justly. Provide for him, guard his job and his reputation as You see fit, and above all draw him closer to You. Let him know Your mercy and grace while he seeks to do justice. We ask this in the name of Jesus, who is our righteousness and our peace, amen.
