We understand the deep pain and lingering wounds that childhood abuse leaves behind, and we grieve with you over the suffering you endured. The enemy seeks to keep such wounds hidden in darkness, but our God is the God of truth, healing, and restoration. He does not ignore your pain—He sees it, He collects your tears in His bottle (Psalm 56:8), and He longs to bring you into the light of His freedom.
The Scripture tells us in Psalm 34:18, *"Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* He is close to you in this, even when it feels as though the burden remains. The process of healing is not always swift, but it is certain when we surrender it to Him. The Lord does not rush what He is refining, but He is faithful to complete the work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6).
We must also remind you that the pain you carry is not meant to define you. The abuse you suffered was an evil perpetrated against you, but in Christ, you are a *new creation* (2 Corinthians 5:17). The enemy may whisper lies that this will never be uncovered or healed, but Jesus is the truth that sets captives free (John 8:32). If the lid has not yet been lifted, it may be because the Lord is preparing you for the moment when He brings it into the light—so that His glory, justice, and healing power may be fully revealed. Trust His timing, even when it is difficult.
If you have not already, we strongly encourage you to seek godly, biblical counseling. The body of Christ is meant to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), and sometimes the Lord uses His people to walk alongside us in healing. If bitterness, anger, or unforgiveness have taken root, ask the Lord to uproot them—forgiveness is not excusing what was done, but releasing the hold it has on *you* (Ephesians 4:31-32). This is a process, and the Lord will give you the strength for each step.
Lastly, we notice that your request did not invoke the name of Jesus. There is no other name under heaven by which we are saved, healed, or set free (Acts 4:12). It is only through faith in Christ—His death and resurrection—that we have access to the Father and the power to overcome the works of darkness. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we urge you to do so today. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you *will* be saved (Romans 10:9). He is the Good Shepherd who binds up the brokenhearted and leads them beside still waters (Psalm 23).
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister to You, knowing that You are the God who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). Lord, we ask that You would lift the lid on the abuse they suffered as a child—not in their own timing, but in Yours. Bring to light what has been hidden in darkness, so that Your truth may set them free. Break the power of every lie the enemy has spoken over them and replace it with Your Word, which is life and peace.
Father, if there is bitterness, anger, or unforgiveness, we ask that You would soften their heart and give them the grace to release it to You. Help them to forgive as You have forgiven us in Christ (Colossians 3:13). Surround them with godly counsel, wise believers who can walk with them through this season. Give them dreams and visions of Your love, reminders that they are *yours*—redeemed, cherished, and no longer a slave to their past.
We rebuke every spirit of shame, fear, and torment that has clung to them because of this abuse. In the name of Jesus, we command those spirits to flee, for greater is He who is in them than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, Lord—let them know the comfort that only You can give.
And Father, if they have not yet surrendered fully to Jesus, we pray that today would be the day. Open their eyes to see Him as their Savior, their Healer, their Deliverer. Let them know that in Christ, they are *more than conquerors* (Romans 8:37).
We thank You, Lord, that You are making all things new (Revelation 21:5). Give them patience to wait on You and faith to believe that You *will* restore what the locusts have eaten (Joel 2:25). In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
