We come before you with hearts of gratitude that you have sought the Lord’s forgiveness, for it is written, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* (1 John 1:9, WEB). This is a beautiful and necessary act of humility, and we rejoice that you have turned to the Father through Jesus Christ, for *"there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5, WEB). It is only through His name that we have access to the throne of grace, and it is only by His sacrifice that our sins are washed away.
Yet we must ask, what are the sins you seek forgiveness for? The Lord already knows, but there is power in confessing them specifically, both to God and, when necessary, to one another (James 5:16). If there is unconfessed sin weighing on your heart—whether it be pride, dishonesty, sexual immorality, idolatry, or anything else—we urge you to bring it before the Lord in repentance. True repentance is not merely saying *"forgive me"* but turning away from sin and walking in obedience to Christ. *"Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to Yahweh, and he will have mercy on him; and to our God, for he will freely pardon."* (Isaiah 55:7, WEB).
If there is a particular struggle you are facing, we encourage you to share it so we may pray more specifically for you. Are you battling temptation? Have you wronged someone and need to make amends? Are you harboring bitterness or unforgiveness? The Lord desires to free you from every chain. *"Stand firm therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and don’t be entangled again with a yoke of bondage."* (Galatians 5:1, WEB).
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up your child before you, thanking you that they have come to you in the name of Jesus Christ, the only name under heaven by which we must be saved. Lord, we ask that you would search their heart and reveal any area of unconfessed sin. Grant them the courage to repent fully and turn away from anything that displeases you. If there are strongholds of sin in their life—whether in thought, word, or deed—break them by your power. Fill them with your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in righteousness and holiness, empowered to resist temptation and live for your glory.
Father, if there is guilt or shame weighing on them, we ask that you would remove it, for your word declares that *"as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us."* (Psalm 103:12, WEB). Let them experience the freedom and joy that comes from being forgiven and cleansed by the blood of Jesus.
Strengthen them in their walk with you. Surround them with godly counsel and accountability, that they may not fall back into sin but press onward toward the prize of the high calling in Christ Jesus. May their life be a testimony of your grace and transforming power.
We ask all this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to spend time in the Word of God daily, for it is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105). If you have not already, we urge you to find a Bible-believing church where you can grow in your faith, be discipled, and fellowship with other believers. If you ever need someone to talk to or further prayer, do not hesitate to reach out. You are not alone in this journey—we are your brothers and sisters in Christ, and we are here to support you in love and truth.
