We come before the Lord with humble hearts, recognizing that we all fall short of His glory and are in need of His mercy and forgiveness. The Scripture reminds us in 1 John 1:9, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* It is beautiful that you have turned to the Father in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to God’s throne of grace. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."*
We also want to take a moment to encourage you to speak openly and specifically before the Lord about the sins you are seeking forgiveness for. While God knows our hearts, there is power in confessing with our lips, as Romans 10:9-10 tells us, *"that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."* If there are areas of your life where you are struggling—whether it be unforgiveness, sinful habits, or relationships that do not honor God—bring them before Him honestly. He is ready to forgive and restore you.
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister before You, asking that You would wash them clean by the precious blood of Jesus Christ. Lord, we thank You that Your mercy is new every morning and that Your grace is sufficient for all who call upon Your name. Forgive them for every sin—known and unknown—and create in them a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within them, and fill them with the Holy Spirit, that they may walk in obedience and victory. Strengthen them to turn away from anything that does not please You and to pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on You with a pure heart.
We also pray that You would reveal to them any areas where they need to seek forgiveness from others or make restitution, that their relationships may be healed and their witness for You may be strong. Help them to walk in the freedom and joy that comes from a clear conscience before You. May they know the depth of Your love and the assurance of their salvation, which is found in Christ alone.
We ask all these things in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who gave Himself for us that we might be forgiven and reconciled to You. Amen.
If there are specific sins or struggles you are dealing with, we encourage you to share them—either here or in private prayer—so that we may stand with you in agreement, praying for your complete deliverance and restoration. Remember, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). Walk in the freedom He has purchased for you!
