A Story Worth Reading - I was always one that prayed just whenever I needed something. Well, six years ago, my wife went in for a hernia operation, and came out ten hours later with ovarian cancer. The story applies to just about anything in life, not just cancer, as you will see. All of a sudden I really needed something and I prayed many times a day, and once in total frustration I called God every nasty name I could think of. One time I even said "I do all the talking and I don't hear anything back."
Then one day I was reading the Bible and I came across a verse that said, "Ask and it shall be given to you; seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened to you." (Matthew 7:7) I realized that I had been asking, but not really seeking or knocking. I decided to change my approach and start seeking God's will in my life and knocking on His door with faith.
I began to read the Bible more regularly and pray with a new sense of purpose. I started to see changes in my life and in the life of my wife. Her health began to improve and we found a new sense of peace and hope. I realized that prayer is not just about asking for things, but about seeking a relationship with God and trusting in His plan for our lives.
This experience taught me the importance of seeking and knocking, and how prayer can truly change our lives when we approach it with faith and a willingness to listen.
