a special prayer for the Pope

TONY MARTIN

Disciple of Prayer
we prayed for the Pope to remind the Catholics to pray in Jesus name, and, Hallelujah, He did it. Now I am asking for prayer for the Pope to remind the Catholics to Read their Bibles at home, and so become more and more like the Lord Jesus Christ . Please. Thanks, ###.

We rejoice with you in what the Lord has done and we join you in giving thanks that our prayers to our Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ are heard and answered. It is a beautiful thing to hear that the Pope has encouraged prayer in the name of Jesus, for we know that there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, and that no one comes to the Father except through Him. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6

We wholeheartedly agree with you in this new prayer request, that the Pope would encourage all Catholics and all who hear his voice to open the Word of God daily in their homes and to be transformed by it to become more like our Lord Jesus Christ. This is the very heart of God for every believer. We long for every person to know the Scriptures not only on Sunday but every day in their own home, for faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17

The Word of God is living and powerful and it is how we are made more like Christ. As it is written, Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 And again, Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105 When we read and obey the Word, we are sanctified by truth, for Jesus prayed, Sanctify them in your truth. Your word is truth. John 17:17 We are also reminded to not merely hear the Word but to live it, for we are told, But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves. James 1:22 Like the Bereans who were more noble, receiving the word with all readiness of mind, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. Acts 17:11, so we pray that a deep hunger for the Bible will grow in homes and hearts.

We now pray together with you in Jesus name.

Father in heaven, we come before Your throne of grace in the mighty name of Jesus Christ Your Son, and we thank You for hearing our prayers. We thank You for the encouragement to pray in Jesus name and we ask now that You would put a strong burden on the heart of the Pope to exhort all the faithful to read their Bibles at home daily. Lord, stir a holy hunger for Your Word in every household, that men, women, and children would open the Scriptures with reverence and joy. Let Your Holy Spirit illuminate the pages so that all who read would see Jesus more clearly, understand Your grace and truth, and be conformed to His image. Help each reader to be not only a hearer but a doer of the Word, walking in love, holiness, and obedience. We pray that as Your Word dwells richly in homes, families would be strengthened, faith would be increased, and many would be transformed by the renewing of their minds. Let Your Word run swiftly and be glorified. We ask this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We were glad to hear the joy in your note and we thank God with you for answered prayer. It means a lot when we see God at work in response to prayer, and your gratitude is encouraging to us.

We share your heart for people to open their Bibles at home and to know Jesus more. We have found that growing to be more like Christ is a lifelong, gradual process, often almost imperceptible day to day, with ups and downs. Time in the Word, prayer, and worship together are core ways God shapes us, and it is the Holy Spirit who makes that growth real in a person's life. Your prayer for the Pope to encourage that hunger for Scripture is a beautiful, loving prayer for the wider church.

One simple way we can keep supporting that prayer is to keep living it ourselves, opening our own Bibles faithfully and quietly sharing with friends and family what God is showing us. That personal example often encourages others more than we realize.

Father, in Jesus' name we thank You for hearing prayer and we ask You to stir a deeper love for Your Word in many hearts. Give wisdom and boldness to the Pope and to all who teach, and draw many to read Scripture at home and to grow more like Jesus. Guide each of us to be faithful in prayer and in the Word. In Jesus' name, amen.

We join you in thanksgiving for what you have seen the Lord do, for He hears the desire of the humble. His ear is quick to hear the groanings that scarcely find words, and when His people pray according to His will He graciously answers. To hear that prayer in the name of Jesus Christ has been encouraged is cause for praise, for there is no other name by which we must be saved, and no other mediator between God and men but the man Christ Jesus.

We also join you in the burden you now bring before the throne, that the Scriptures might be opened and read in homes. Blessed Bible, thou art all truth. God in mercy has not left us without a witness but has written to us the great things of His law, and there is nothing in this Book which is unimportant. All things in it are great, and some things are the greatest of all, for it reveals Christ crucified and the way of salvation through faith in Him alone.

It is a grief that there is a Bible in almost every house and yet many will not read it or try to understand it. Many treat the Bible very politely and keep it upon the shelf, and some could say they have not opened it for months or years. We have societies for providing the Bible for readers but we greatly need readers of the Bible. Never give up the Bible, no, not a leaf of it. Know it thoroughly and believe what it reveals, and hold fast to it whatever others may say.

So let us pray together.

O Lord our God, we thank Thee for Thy Word tried and proved as silver purified seven times. We thank Thee that it still stands though it has been in the furnace of criticism, and that not one line of it has failed. We pray for the Pope, as we pray for all men in places of influence, that Thou wouldst move his heart to exhort with plainness that men and women, boys and girls, would take up Thy Book and read it at home. Grant that in many houses the family Bible may be laid open morning and evening and prayer offered unto Thee in the name of Jesus.

Grant that as the Scriptures are read, the Holy Spirit would open eyes to see the Lord Jesus Christ, to repent and believe the gospel, and to be made more and more like Him. Make us all to be Bible readers and Bible doers, not hearers only. Let Thy goodness lead many to repentance and to new life in Christ. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus our only Saviour. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for sharing this prayer request and for your heart to see people grow more like the Lord Jesus Christ. We rejoice with you that God hears prayer offered in the name of Jesus, for Jesus Himself said that we should ask in His name, and we are glad to join you in continued prayer for this need.

We will pray that the Pope and all leaders in the Catholic Church will faithfully encourage people to open the Scriptures for themselves at home, to read them daily, to trust in Christ alone for salvation, and to be transformed by the Word of God. The Bible is God breathed and is able to make us wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus and to train us in righteousness, so that we may become more like Him.

Let us pray together. Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son we thank You for Your Word. We ask that You would give a hunger for the Scriptures to many, that as they read at home with open hearts You would reveal Christ to them and conform them to His image. Guide all who teach and preach, including the Pope, to point clearly to Jesus and to Your written Word. Help each of us to abide in the Scriptures daily and to walk in obedience. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue praying and to continue reading the Bible yourself and sharing it with others, trusting that God will work through His Word by His Spirit.
