Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Peace is the mother of all good things, the foundation of joy. When the Lord sent out His apostles, He commanded them to say, “Peace be unto you,” and He gave His own peace, saying, “My peace I give unto you.” This peace prepares the way for love. So for your journey, what you need above all is that peace which surpasses understanding. Even as He said to the woman who came trembling, “Go in peace,” granting her health of body and courage, so may He give you safe travel, good health in your check-up, and favor in every conversation.
Make provision for the flesh, but not to fulfill its lusts. The Apostle did not forbid care of the body when he wrote, “Use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thine often infirmities.” Care for your health without anxiety, using medicine and rest as needed, and trust the Physician of souls for the outcome.
As for financial needs, remember that the present life is a sleep, and the things in it are no different from dreams. They that grow rich in a dream, when it is day are convicted of having been rich to no purpose. Do not set your heart on abundance, but on the kingdom of God. He who cares for you as a father will provide more than enough for every necessity, even as He opened houses and hearts to His servants.
I care for you as my own child, and I pray for the one who stays at home. Let him know that each believer has an angel who always beholds the face of the Father. Therefore, he must be sober and faithful in his responsibility, as in the presence of that guardian.
Cast out fear and trembling. Be of good courage, for the Lord goes before you. Go in peace, and may every step be ordered by Him who alone can make a way where there seems to be none.
