A New Years Prayer

Lord please hear me.

As this new year is here I find myself thinking back on all the strife and pain of the past few years. I think on all the things that have made me who I am now and wish I was a better and happier person. I find myself wishing I was so angry and bitter. I wish I could forgive, truly forgive the those who have wronged me. I wish that forgiveness would give my heart peace. I wish I had understanding as to why you let so many things happen to bring me to this point. I served you to the best of my understanding, and though I am not perfect I try to do good by you. I just wish you looked kindly on me Lord, as I felt you once did. I do not know the sin I committed to deserve all that has befallen me but I wish you would help give me the strength to overcome it. The absolute loneliness, the lack of money, the rage and emptiness in me make me wish I was not in this world. Please find mercy on me Lord and look on me with kind eyes once more.
