Committing your works to the Lord as you have done is the right beginning, for when you commit what you do to Him, He establishes your thoughts and directs your steps. That is the promise of Proverbs 16:3 and it is a firm foundation for the growth you are seeking this month in your spiritual life, personal development, work, career, finances and purpose.
The Scriptures teach that wisdom is the principal thing, and with all your getting you should get understanding. Knowledge can give you facts, but wisdom gives you the ability to use what you know in a way that honors God and truly gives life. The beginning of that wisdom is the fear of the Lord. It starts with reverence for Him, with listening to His instruction and walking in His ways. The book of Proverbs was given for this very reason, to help you know wisdom, to receive instruction in wisdom, justice, judgment and equity, to give prudence to the simple and knowledge and discretion to the young. The wise person will hear and increase in learning.
Wisdom is pictured as crying out in the open, in the streets and at the gates, inviting everyone to come and partake. It is an open invitation, and it is better than rubies or wealth or anything else you might desire, because nothing you desire can compare to it. In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, so to seek wisdom is to seek Him. There is a wisdom of this world that is earthly and self seeking and leads to envy and strife, and God has shown that wisdom to be foolishness. But the wisdom that comes from above is pure and peaceable and it produces a clean and steadfast life. That is the wisdom to pray for, not merely cleverness or human ideas, but the wisdom from God that brings purity, clarity and true confidence.
You asked for discipline, wisdom, confidence, excellence and favour, and for help to complete your goals and be prepared for greater opportunities. Discipline is part of receiving instruction. It is allowing the Lord to correct, teach and train you so that your house, your life and your work, is built through wisdom and established by understanding. Wisdom is a defense and it preserves life for those who have it. When you buy truth and do not sell it, when you value wisdom and instruction and understanding above quick gain, God is able to establish the work of your hands in a way that lasts.
May the Lord grant you a heart that fears Him and loves His Word, that you may grow in wisdom and understanding day by day. May He give you a listening ear to increase in learning, prudence in your decisions, diligence to complete what you have set your hand to do, and excellence that reflects Him. May He guide your steps, open the right doors for the future, and establish your work according to His will. As you commit your way to Jesus Christ, trusting Him alone for salvation and following Him, may you know His favour and His peace, and may this month be a time of real and lasting growth for His glory.
