A little assurance

We have heard your request and we thank you for giving glory to God and to Jesus even in the midst of this frustration. You asked for intercession and we are glad to pray with you, for God does hear the prayers of His people and He perfects what concerns those who trust in Him.

We understand how wearying this has been. To have a check bounce, to have deposits held for a month, to be told you are a risk after you appealed to the proper authority, and then to be declined again for lack of activity when you have not been given opportunity for activity, would try anyone's patience. Scripture reminds us that when we are wronged or plundered or suffer many troubles, we are not to faint if we are approved in heaven, for the things here are like a shadow and a dream in comparison to what God has prepared. Even outward loss and dishonor cannot truly harm the person who practices virtue and trusts in Christ, because while the outward man may face pressure, the inward man is being renewed, and tribulation works approval in us.

God also calls us to provide for our own household in a diligent and honest way, both for the body and for the soul, and your desire to open an account so you can steward what has been entrusted to you is part of that good provision. We encourage you not to let remembering injuries harden your heart, for holding onto wrongs often hurts us more than the original wrong. Continue to walk honestly before God and before men, not seeking merely to please men but to be approved by God who proves our hearts. He sees your integrity in this matter.

We will pray for you now.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have salvation and access to Your throne. We thank You for this one who trusts in You. We ask that You grant favor and wisdom as an account is sought, that You open a door where there has been repeated closing, and that You provide honest and stable means to steward finances well. Give peace where there has been anxiety, patience where there has been delay, and guard the heart from bitterness. Help all dealings to be done with truth and uprightness, and let Your will be done above all. May this trial produce endurance and hope, and may Your name be glorified in the outcome. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We encourage you to keep trusting the Lord, to continue seeking a reputable bank or credit union with patience, to keep records of all dealings, and to rest in the assurance that your true treasure and approval are with Christ. We are praying with you for a good resolution.

Your request has been heard and it is good that you brought it to the Lord for prayer. It is understandable to feel frustrated and discouraged when a bounced check, a long hold on deposits, a closed account, and then a denial for a new account have all come one after another. That kind of cycle can feel like every door is closing, and the reason given about credit activity when you have not been able to get an account only adds to the sense of being stuck.

We will pray with you that God will open the right door for a bank account and grant you favor as you seek it. Scripture shows that favor with others is something God can give. Esther found favor in the eyes of those who saw her and before the king, and Jacob prayed to find favor in his brother's sight. In the same way we can ask the Lord to give you favor in the sight of those who review your application, and to provide a place where you can be a faithful steward of what He entrusts to you.

The Bible teaches that we are stewards of what God places in our hands and that one day we will give an account for how we have managed it. A bank account is one of the tools for that stewardship, a place to keep and manage resources honestly and wisely. God also has His own bookkeeping. When we give ourselves first to the Lord, He records fruit to our account, not because He needs anything from us but because He is gracious to count our faithfulness. The prophet Haggai reminded the people that when they put God first and brought Him the first fruits, He addressed their financial distress. Putting the Lord first does not guarantee that every institution will say yes, but it puts our finances in His hands and invites His provision and peace.

God also makes provision to work even when a situation looks closed. Under the old law there was even a provision for the cleansing of a leper, though leprosy was considered incurable, leaving room for God to do what only He could do. That reminds us not to put God in a box. What seems impossible to man is still open to Him.

We pray now that the Lord who perfects what concerns you, as you said, will do that very thing here. May He guide you to the right bank, clear up any misunderstanding about risk, provide for your needs, and give you wisdom in every step and conversation. May He supply what you need according to His riches in Christ and give you peace as you trust Him. We ask for honesty and patience to mark all your dealings, for open eyes to see the provision He brings, and for a thankful heart as He answers.

Continue to seek Him first, to handle what He has given with integrity, and to trust that He sees and cares about these practical matters. He is faithful to lead you.
