A Christian Man that is in love with a Muslim girl who is engaged and going

We hear your heart and the deep longing you carry, and we come before the Lord with this burden, seeking His wisdom, healing, and direction. First, we must address this situation with truth and love, rooted firmly in Scripture, for your soul’s sake and for the glory of God.

The Word of God is clear about relationships between believers and unbelievers. In 2 Corinthians 6:14-15, we read: "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? What agreement has Christ with Belial? Or what portion has a believer with an unbeliever?" This is not a suggestion, it is a command from the Lord. You are a follower of Jesus Christ, and she is not. The foundation of your faith, your values, and your eternal destiny are not aligned. To pursue a romantic relationship with her would be to walk in disobedience to God’s design for your life.

Furthermore, she is engaged to another man. This is not a small matter. In Matthew 19:6, Jesus declares, "What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate." Even if her engagement is not yet a marriage, it is a covenant before God and man, and to interfere would be to sow discord and dishonor. Proverbs 6:32-33 warns, "He who commits adultery with a woman is void of understanding. He who does it destroys his own soul. He will get wounds and dishonor. His reproach will not be wiped away." Even the desire to pursue her while she is committed to another is a snare to your heart and a stumbling block to her life.

We must also address the reality of your emotions. Love is a gift from God, but when it is misplaced, it becomes a source of pain and bondage. The enemy seeks to use our affections to lead us away from God’s best for us. In James 1:14-15, we are warned, "But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed. Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin; and the sin, when it is full grown, brings forth death." Your feelings for her, though real, are not leading you toward life, they are leading you toward heartache, confusion, and spiritual compromise.

Now is the time to surrender this situation to the Lord. Psalm 55:22 says, "Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved." You cannot resolve this on your own. You need the power of the Holy Spirit to break the hold this has on your heart and to redirect your affections toward God’s will for your life.

We also want to gently but firmly rebuke the spirit of infatuation and idolatry that has taken root in your heart. Anything or anyone you place above God becomes an idol. In Exodus 20:3, the Lord commands, "You shall have no other gods before me." This woman has become an idol in your life, and it is time to tear down that altar and return to your First Love, Jesus Christ. He is the only One who can satisfy the longings of your heart. Psalm 73:25-26 declares, "Whom have I in heaven but you? There is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."

We encourage you to seek godly counsel from mature believers in your church, men who can walk with you, pray with you, and hold you accountable. Proverbs 11:14 says, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." Do not isolate yourself in this struggle. Surround yourself with brothers in Christ who will speak truth into your life and help you walk in obedience.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this brother who is struggling with his affections for a woman who is not Yours. Lord, we ask that You would break the chains of infatuation and idolatry in his life. We declare that no one and nothing will take Your place in his heart. Father, we ask that You would heal his emotions and redirect his desires toward You. Give him the strength to walk away from this relationship and to trust You with his future.

Lord, we rebuke the spirit of lust and temptation that has sought to ensnare him. We declare that he is a new creation in Christ, and the old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17). We pray that You would fill him with Your Holy Spirit and give him a fresh passion for You. Help him to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, knowing that all these things will be added to him (Matthew 6:33).

Father, we ask that You would bring godly, Christian women into his life, women who love You and who will encourage him in his walk with You. Prepare his heart for the spouse You have for him, and help him to wait on Your timing. Lord, we also pray for this Muslim woman. Open her eyes to the truth of the Gospel. Soften her heart to receive Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. If it is Your will, bring her to salvation, but do not allow her to be a stumbling block in this brother’s life.

We thank You, Lord, that You are faithful to complete the good work You have begun in him (Philippians 1:6). We trust You to lead him into freedom, joy, and the abundant life You have promised. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

Brother, this is not the end of your story, it is a turning point. The pain you feel now is real, but it is not forever. God has a plan for your life, and it is a plan for good and not for harm, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Trust Him with your heart. Surrender this woman to Him, and ask Him to replace your longing for her with a deeper longing for Him. He is faithful, and He will not abandon you. Walk in obedience, and watch how He works all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). You are not alone in this. We stand with you, and more importantly, God stands with you.

We know how exhausting it can be to carry feelings like these when the road ahead seems closed. Loving someone who is already promised to another, and whose faith different from your own, creates a kind of grief that is very real, even if it isn't always recognized as such. It's a loss of what you had hoped for, and that deserves compassion, not shame.

Sometimes the most faithful step forward is simply to stop trying to "resolve" the situation on your own terms and instead let God meet you in the ache. You don't have to suppress your sadness or pretend it doesn't hurt. We've found that naming the loss honestly before God, perhaps in a journal or in conversations with a trusted Christian friend, can loosen its grip. This isn't about forgetting her quickly; it's about trusting that Jesus is present in your pain, and that he knows what it is to love and yet have to let go.

One practical way to guard your heart right now might be to create some emotional distance, limiting contact if possible, and not lingering over memories or "what ifs." That's not unkind; it's giving your heart room to heal. And while you grieve, you don't have to do it alone. Lean on a few mature believers who will pray with you and simply be with you without offering easy answers.

Let us pray for you now:

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, we lift up our brother who is hurting tonight. You see the love he feels and the confusion he carries. Meet him in this loss with your comfort and steady presence. Grant him the courage to release what cannot be, and the peace that comes from placing his dreams in your hands. Give him good companions for this season, and help him to trust that your plans for his future are good. In your name we ask. Amen.

The precept is set before you in Holy Scripture as a yoke which the world counts harsh: “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers.” You have felt its weight, and in your soul you have struggled against it. But though the yoke of Christ may press at the first, when the heart truly loves Him, that yoke becomes light and easy. You say you love this Muslim woman, yet she is an unbeliever, and what fellowship has light with darkness? Your love, if it is true and pure, would first lead her to the Saviour; but she is pledged to another, and you are nurturing a flame that is not of God. That is not love which seeks its own at the expense of righteousness. The love that springs from the Spirit of God is not a fever of the flesh; it is a spark of that divine flame which burns first toward the Lord.

You have set your affection on a creature when the Creator demands your whole heart. Remember the question that pierced Peter’s soul: “Do you love Me?” Do you love the Lord Jesus so that your heart is wholly His? If you sit down and say, “I do love You, O my Lord,” then prove it. The love of Christ constrains us, not toward idols, but toward holiness. You cannot give your heart to a woman whose faith denies Him, and then turn to call yourself a lover of the Lord. The jewels He gives are for adorning His bride, but you must never look upon the rings and forget to look into His eyes. Break off this entanglement, though it wound you, for the wound of a faithful friend is healing. Submit with humility to the guiding counsel of God, for He leads with tenderness and wisdom. Bow your will to His, and you will find unerring guidance. Flee what is evil, not in the spirit of fear, but in the power of love, courage, and a sound mind which the new birth bestows.

Come, then, and let your love be brought back to its only true object. Love the Lord, all you His saints, for He first loved you. Tell Him you love Him, and give that love full exercise in contemplation and obedience. The love that creates love is a holy flame; let it consume every rival passion. When you taste afresh the love of Christ which passes knowledge, you will find that the things of earth grow strangely dim. Then you will say with the Psalmist, “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me,” and you will learn that His yoke is carried on shoulders upheld by grace. Look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, and let your heart be bound to Him by ties that surpass the love of women. Thus will you be delivered from this snare, and your feet set upon a rock.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your heart clings to a woman already pledged to another, and one who does not know Christ. This is no godly love, but a snare of the devil, a temptation dressed in false sweetness. Do you not know that to desire an engaged woman is adultery in the sight of God? For whether you defile an empress or a handmaid with a husband, the crime is the same. You are not merely wronging a man; you are insulting God Himself, who sees all and will avenge. Why do you pretend He does not see? Your secret passion is an open rebellion before heaven.

Consider also that she is not a believer. What fellowship has light with darkness? The Apostle says, "Be not unequally yoked with unbelievers." You would yoke yourself to one who denies your Lord. You are trying to build on another man’s foundation, thrusting yourself where you have no right. The blessed Paul refused to do this, lest he steal another’s labor. She belongs to another by pledge, and to no man of faith. You cannot bless what God has forbidden. Do not think that prayer will bend heaven to your lusts. When you pray with selfish desire, you are no suppliant but a hypocrite, looking for your own will, not God’s. You lift up hands full of wrath and grasping, and you provoke the very mercy you seek.

Flee this fire before it consumes you utterly. Cut off the affection; tear it out by the roots. Seek instead to please God alone, to conform your life to His commandments, and to cultivate the hidden beauty of the soul, which is precious to Him. If you obey, you will draw down grace; if you persist, you will depart with empty hands, having received your reward from men or from fleeting passions, but forfeiting eternal life. Repent, then, and turn from this path. God is able to heal and restore, but He will not bless your sin.

The pain you’re feeling right now is very real. When deep affections and longings seize the heart, it can feel like an unstoppable force, something you would almost describe as being lovesick. But in a season like this, we need to pause and ask a searching question: what kind of love is truly at work here? Not every powerful desire or attraction, however overwhelming, originates from the Spirit of God.

Scripture presents us with a distinction that cuts beneath our emotional surface. There is a love that belongs to the body and the emotions, a natural, human affection. That kind of love can be stirred even toward things or people that are not good for our souls. But the love that is the fruit of the Spirit, the love shed abroad in our hearts by God Himself, is something entirely different. It is not a taking or a grasping. It is a giving, sacrificial love, perfectly modeled in Christ. God’s love for us is unquenchable and uncaused by anything we have to offer; He loved us first. That is the agape love, and that is the standard for those who have been born of Him.

Here is the hard truth you must honestly face: a romantic entanglement with someone who does not belong to the body of Christ, and who in this case is already pledged to another, does not align with that divine love. It springs from a different well. The painful reality is that countless believers have walked this exact road, convinced that their affection and patient witness would eventually lead the other person to Jesus, only to find themselves spiritually shipwrecked a few years later. The allure of the world, even through a person we find incredibly appealing, can quietly draw our hearts away from our first love for the Shepherd who bought us.

We cannot truly claim to love another person while ignoring what God says is best for their eternal soul and for your own walk with Him. Real love does not shut its heart to the truth of God’s Word just because the desire is strong. To love in truth means our actions, and not just our feelings, must fall in line with His commandments. That means stepping back from a relationship that the Scripture would define as unequally yoked. The fact that she is engaged is not merely an obstacle; it is a clear, protective boundary that God in His providence has set.

Your deep need is not for this particular relationship to be resolved in the way your heart currently wants. Your deepest need is for the perfecting love of God to so fill you that His will becomes your delight. Let His left hand be under your head and His right hand embrace you. Turn your gaze back to the One whose love for you cannot be purchased or quenched. When you come to understand the exceeding richness of His love, it will strike a responsive chord that eclipses every false substitute. Find your brothers and sisters in the faith and pour that God-given love into them, building up the body of Christ. That is where the proof of your spiritual life will be found, assured before Him.
