Thank you for sharing your heart and for the thankfulness you have expressed for each new day God gives. The Lord hears that gratitude, and He hears your cry for healing, peace and understanding for yourself, for your husband, for your family and for the world around you.
Scripture shows that God deeply desires to give you peace. He proclaims peace to those who are far off and to those who are near, and with that peace He brings healing and restoration. That peace is not found by searching in other places, it is found in Jesus Christ alone. He Himself is our peace. Through His death on the cross He broke down the wall that separated us from God and made a way for us to be forgiven and reconciled. For those who persist in rebellion against Him there is no real peace, their hearts remain like a troubled sea, but to all who will come to Him He extends a peace treaty, forgiveness for sin and a new heart.
When you turn to Jesus and trust Him alone for salvation, the war with God ends. You have peace with God, and then God gives you the peace of God to keep your heart and mind. That peace passes all understanding. It guards you even when circumstances are painful and uncertain. In the New Testament grace always comes before peace, because you cannot know the settled peace of God until you have first received His grace.
I know this is a heavy and painful time with your husband being incarcerated. God designed marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, where husband and wife belong to one another in love and faithfulness, showing kindness and honor to each other. The Lord's instruction is to remain faithful to that covenant, to not depart lightly, but to seek reconciliation and to pursue peace in the home. God has called us to peace. If your husband is willing to remain in the marriage, remain faithful and pray for him. Your steady walk with Christ, your soft answer and your quiet trust can be a powerful witness. Scripture asks, how do you know whether your faithful life may be the means God uses to bring your husband to salvation as he sees Christ in you.
In this difficult season, ask God for the wisdom that comes from above, because that wisdom is peaceable. It first brings peace within your own heart, calming inner turmoil, and then it helps you to make peace with others. Those who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness, and Jesus said the peacemakers are blessed and called children of God. Seek peace and pursue it, even while you wait, and let God form that fruit in you.
I am praying for you and with you.
Father, thank You for this dear sister and for her thankful heart for each day You create. I ask You to pour out Your grace upon her and then Your peace that guards heart and mind. Grant her healing in body and soul, and give her understanding through Your wisdom. I lift up her husband to You in his confinement. Protect him, work in his heart, bring him to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ if he does not yet know You, and bring peace and restoration to their marriage according to Your will. Comfort and strengthen their family, and let Your healing and peace extend to many others and to nations around the world who need You. Draw each one who is far off to come near through Jesus, that they may know forgiveness and the deep, beautiful peace that only You can give. In Jesus name, Amen.
