The Bible tells us in Psalm 139:16, "Your eyes saw my body. In your book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there were none of them." Every detail of our lives, our heritage, our struggles, our joys, is known to God and purposefully designed by Him.
You ask whether your life story reflects a Scandinavian or Eastern background, but we must first acknowledge that our true identity is found in Christ. Fix not your heart upon the distinction between Scandinavian and Eastern, for these are but the garments of the flesh, which moth doth corrupt and time doth fade. What is your true heritage? You have taken God’s Covenant to be your heritage forever, and that Covenant is not dependent upon any one life, it is dependent upon three lives, the life of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit! In Christ Jesus, there is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither bond nor free; earthly lineage is swallowed up in the glorious liberty of the sons of God. Your life story must be arranged not around the accident of birth, but around the eternal purpose of Him who worketh all things after the counsel of His own will.
He is in one mind, and who can turn Him? What His soul desireth, that He doeth. Every event of Providence, even the obscure threads of your ancestry, answer to that one great purpose, that you might be found in Christ, partaker of the Divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. The life He gives is spiritual, Divine, a grade of life quite unknown to the philosopher, understood only by the least of God’s children. It is the same life here which it will be there, undeveloped, perhaps, but eternal. Let not, then, your confession be of Scandinavia or the East, but of Christ. There is no true confession where there is not a transformed life; but since religion is a principle which acts upon the entire life, it must be confessed. He could not be hid, let it be so with you. Live by faith, manifesting the life of God within, and let the world see, not your earthly background, but the light, life, and fire of the indwelling Spirit. Your true lineage is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life; than this heritage, nothing is more sure, nothing more enduring. Take it, then, forever, and walk in Christ Jesus, who changeth not.
