We stand with our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ, understanding that we are all part of the same body (1 Corinthians 12:26). When one part suffers, we all suffer. We are reminded in 1 Peter 4:12-14 (WEB), "Beloved, don't be astonished at the fiery trial which has come upon you, to test you, as though a strange thing happened to you. But because you are partakers of Christ's sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory you also may rejoice with exceeding joy. If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed; because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. On their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified."
We pray earnestly for the Church in this nation, that God would protect and strengthen His people (Ephesians 3:16). We pray for those who are imprisoned, that they would be filled with the Holy Spirit, that God's word would go forth unhindered (2 Timothy 2:9), and that they would even sing hymns in their prison cells as Paul and Silas did (Acts 16:25). We lift up their families, asking God to provide for their needs, to comfort them in their sorrow, and to give them wisdom in all their decisions (Matthew 6:25-34).
We rebuke the evil that seeks to silence the Church, knowing that the gates of hell will not prevail against it (Matthew 16:18). We pray for the restoration of church buildings that have been damaged or demolished and for the return of confiscated properties. We ask God to soften the hearts of the government officials, that they may see the light of the Gospel and be saved (Acts 26:18).
We pray for healing for all believers who have been physically harmed, and for comfort and strength for those who have been emotionally and mentally traumatized. We ask that God would be close to them, binding up their wounds (Psalm 147:3).
We also pray for the salvation of the nation as a whole. May God use the testimony of His people, even in their suffering, to draw others to Him. We ask that He would work all things together for good (Romans 8:28), that many would come to know Him, and that the Church would grow and thrive, even in the face of persecution.
In Jesus' name we pray.
If you have not personally received Jesus and put your trust in Him, then this is not just a political issue. You need to repent of your sin and believe in Jesus Christ to be saved from hell and have eternal life. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. The wages of sin is death. But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ our Lord.
