We hear your cry for peace in the late hours and we join with you to seek God's will together in Jesus' name for quiet, for rest, and for focus as you prepare your school programs.
We understand how distressing it is when your walls tremble from loud pacing and when sleep is broken by noise at midnight and in the early morning hours. We also hear your concern for your neighbor who seems restless and anxious, and we lift him up with you. The Lord calls us to love even those who disturb us and to seek peace where we can. But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you, Matthew 5:44. If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men, Romans 12:18. We pray for a gentle spirit toward him even as we ask God to calm his restlessness.
We also bring your need for focus and help in your work before the Father. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:6-7. That peace is what guards our minds when distraction and frustration rise. Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed, Proverbs 16:3. But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him, James 1:5. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, Colossians 3:23. We ask God to give you clear thought, wisdom for each program you must write, and the support you need from your colleague, that what feels heavy this week would be made orderly and even light by His grace.
We pray also for your sleep, for God Himself gives rest. In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety, Psalm 4:8. We ask Him to guard your nights and to quiet what is beyond your control.
We notice you cried out to the Lord but did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly encourage you in this because it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. It is by believing in Jesus Christ, that He died for our sins and rose again, and calling on His name, that we are saved and that our prayers are heard. If you have not yet put your trust fully in Him, we encourage you to confess Him as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead.
So we pray together now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ. We lift up our dear one who is weary from noise and lack of rest and burdened by work that must be done. Grant quiet to this dwelling in the night hours, calm the heart and steps of the neighbor who paces anxiously, and bring him Your peace. Heal any lingering effects from past use of marijuana and draw him to wholeness and to Yourself. Guard our friend's sleep, let no anxiety steal it, and cover this home in Your safety. Pour out wisdom, focus, and clarity for every school program that must be written, and provide gracious help through the colleague, that all needed tasks would be completed well and without striving. Remove anxiety and replace it with Your surpassing peace that guards heart and mind in Christ Jesus. We commit these plans to You and trust You to establish them. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, our way to You, amen.
We encourage you to continue to cast your cares on Him, to commit each day's work to Him before you begin, and where you are able, to speak gently to your neighbor or to seek wise help from a landlord if the disturbance continues, while trusting the Lord to be your refuge and your helper for focus and rest.
