mind connection

Hello Everyone's, my father-in-law got brain strokes and now he is on the ventilator. Doctors told today that body and mind connection is disconnected. I don't have much attachment with him but he is a very good guy. He always helps others. I am feeling helpless now. Don't know what to do...
