If then you were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth. For you died, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ will be manifested, [who is] your life, then you will also be manifested with him in glory. Put to death therefore your members which are on the earth: fornication, impurity, immoral sexual passion, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry; (Col 3:1-5) There is an awful temptation as I put forth more effort than I have in a long time, toward losing weight that I will simply trade one bad habit for another. Greed for too much food exchanged for an unhealthy...
I have been blessed by many wonderful Bible teachers, authors, studies, websites during my life, especially in the last 20 years. I have found some gems that have helped me study the Word and grow closer to God. Teachers: John MacArthur Jr. - is the Pastor at Grace Community Church in California. His radio ministry is called Grace to You. He is a great teacher who does not hold back. But preaches truth. He has recently made 40 years of sermons available for free downloading at http://www.gty.org/ This is a resource to take advantage of! Charles Stanley - is the Pastor at a large Southern Baptist church in Atlanta, Georgia. His ministry radio/writing is called In Touch Ministries. You can hear him for free at http://www.intouch.org/...
I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, your transgressions, and, as a cloud, your sins: return to me; for I have redeemed you. (Isa 44:22) And you being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, you he made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses; having blotted out the bond written in ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us: and he has taken it out from between [him and us], nailing it to the cross; having despoiled the principalities and the powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it. (Col 2:13-15) "Nailed to the cross." Amen. Dear Lord, You are soooo amazingly merciful and kind. Thank you for not holding our past against us. Thank you for a new...
Father, Please help me and my other buddies with a similar goal to be able to focus each day on pleasing You, searching Your Word to know more about You and to know what You would have us do and say. And as our relationship with You grows and matures, let the old over-eating habits become a distant memory. Change the well-learned destructive behaviors we have fine-tuned for months or years to ones that honor You. When we are stressed or tired or frustrated don't let the first thought be, "What can I eat?" Let it be, "What can I read or listen to that will strengthen me and build me back up". Lord, I know in my case I'm asking for miracles, but I believe You are able to completely change my habits and attitudes about food. So I am...
Yes, this is really about baked carrots. -- Not an attempt at being clever. So I found this recipe on a website and tried it. I'm all about quick, easy, healthy (now), and tasty, so here it is. Preheat the oven to around 375 to 400 degrees. Cut carrots into bite size pieces or use baby carrots. I did about 2 cups of baby carrots, to fill the cookie sheet, one layer, not too crowded. They said not to use glass.. Clay or aluminum was best. I pulled out my clay cookie sheet, very heavy, but it worked nicely. Toss the carrots in 1 to 2 teaspoons of olive oil and a seasoning. I used an Italian blend. 1 to 2 teaspoons. I didn't measure just eyeballed to see there was some seasoning on every carrot. Spread the carrots out on the cookie...
Well, day one of having gone public that is. Our BBB membership is small to start: Me, K-J and Pradmin (Auxiliary member). I'll just start this one off with a prayer. Feel free to post and comment whatever is on your heart as often as you'd like! Father, Thank you for K-J's offer to come alongside me and be my prayer support during this journey. Thank you for the opportunity to pray for her as well. Help us each to take one day at a time, take our minds away from food and temptation to eat more than we need. Give us the strength and wisdom to make good choices and to be patient and trust You when the weight doesn't seem to be coming off as fast as we would like. Help us to stay the course. Thank you thank you for husbands who...
This book is about a man who the Lord chose to show the world what Hell is like and tells what hell is like to the senses and goes into great detail about demons do to you, Even on earth. The book is an " eye opener" that hell is a real place where bad people go and those who have rejected Lord as their personal savior. The man also mentions the Lord is coming very soon and has a prayer for those who are lost without him. I would highly recommend this book to Anyone, You can buy it cheap at Amazon.com

I received this as one of the email devotionals I subscribe to. I thought it was particularly worthy of sharing because so many are facing such big "Goliaths" in their lives right now, as reflected by the posts on the prayer board. Please take a few minutes to read this devotional message. I learned a lot from it, and I pray you do, too. Be blessed! Take Goliath Down by Max Lucado Goliaths still roam our world. Debt. Disaster. Dialysis. Danger. Deceit. Disease. Depression. Super-size challenges still swagger and strut, still pilfer sleep and embezzle peace and liposuction joy. But they can’t dominate you. You know how to deal with them. You face giants by facing God first. Focus on giants—you stumble. Focus on God—your...
The Final Stop - Station Fourteen
Station Fourteen - Jesus is Laid in the Tomb They take the body of Jesus to its resting place. The huge stone over the tomb is the final sign of the permanence of death. In this final act of surrender, who would have imagined this tomb would soon be empty or that Jesus would show himself alive to his disciples, or that they would recognize him in the breaking of bread? Oh, that our hearts might burn within us, as we realize how he had to suffer and die so as to enter into his glory, for us. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you. Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world. I pause to contemplate this act of closure on his life. In solidarity with all humanity, his body is taken to its grave. I stand for a moment...
