We must trust You, Lord Because without You there is no hope. We must enter into the rest that You provide, For by Your Spirit we can come. It is by what Your Son has done. And nothing can take away Everything that You gave that day. And though I so often disregarded it, Wandering deeper into the pit Of despair and confusion When all along you were the solution. But Your Spirit whispers and draws me close. And when my rebellious spirit wants to be a recluse, You remember me like a lost coin, And urge me on softly to rejoin You are the vine and I'm never alone As long as You are the One our hearts enthrone. If we would just face Your glory instead of reality, Your faithfulness would become clear like a surety. If we would never look away...
"The Solution" I heard someone say once that worry is like a rocking chair...it's always in motion but it never gets you anywhere...so why do we struggle with it and what good does it do? 1 Peter 5:6-7 ( Amp).says, Therefore humble yourselves [demote, lower yourselves in your own estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you, casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully. Since Jesus invites us to cast all of our cares and worries on Him, why do so many of us refuse to do it? The only way to have victory in our lives is to play by God's rules...
We need revival in our families -- In the Old Testament it was frequent that prayers to open the barren womb were employed and answered (Sarah, Rachel, Hannah, even before Messiah was born in Elizabeth "Your petition has been granted" the angel told Zecharias [Luke 1:13]). It is clear the "dominion mandate" given twice in early Genesis, "be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it" is replaced with The Great Commission, "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel, (repentance) make disciples and teach everyone to obey everything I have commanded, with signs following, as the Father sent Me so I send You, and You will receive Power to be my witnesses" (Matt 28:19-20, Mark 16:15, Luke 24:47, John 20:21, Acts 1:8). History is...
The Wolves Within... An old Grandfather said to his grandson, who came to him with anger at a friend who had done him an injustice... "Let me tell you a story." "I too, at times, have felt great hate for those who have taken so much, with no sorrow for what they do. But hate wears you down, and does not hurt your enemy. It's like taking poison and wishing your enemy would die. I have struggled with these feelings many times. " "It is as if there are two wolves inside me; one is good and does no harm. He lives in harmony with all around him and does not take offense when no offense was intended. He will only fight when it is right to do so, and in the right way." "But...the other wolf... ah! The littlest thing will send him into a...
(Romans 5:8) "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Do you just love those who love you? Or do you love all people? (Luke 6:32) "If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them." Do you sit in church pews and praise God and sing hallelujah and when someone close to you wrongs you, you write them out of your life? (I John 4:20) "Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not see" It is easy to love those who love us but the true test of a Christian is the ability to love the unlovable; just as we...
Do You Really Love The Lord? And He answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind. Luke 10:27 Many of us say we love the Lord, but there are varying reasons why most say this. If asked would you say you love Him because He healed you or He provides all your needs, or even He came to save you? All these things are good but the above scripture brings us to ask the question, why do I love Him, and do I love Him with all my heart, soul, strength and mind? If the reason is anything other than a sincere love for the Lord that burns away all other passions, then your love is a conditional love. Our God has feelings...
Fruit of the Spirit “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against which there is no law.†Galatians 5:22 The fruit of the Spirit flows out from the character and nature of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love....it doesn't say “fruits†of the Spirit, but fruit. Isn't that interesting? God is love. Jesus is love. Now love is...and the fruit of the Spirit is love. (1 John 4:8; 1 Cor 13:4; Gal 5:22) A seed is sown, “God loves you.†Now most people know that God loves them, but when the reality of that truth hits them, at the moment of recognition, “God DOES love me!" Joy bursts through casting off oppression; “God is not mad at me! He does...
"But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap. For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth. But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man" (Luke 21:34-38). I have to believe Jesus was talking directly to disciples and warning them to be prayerful in the midst of persecution. Certainly our brothers and sisters in the Islamic Countries have no problem living by these warnings, nor did the persecuted church throughout history, or the first generation of believers have a problem interpreting these...
PROVE IT! As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead. James 2:26 Have you ever heard anyone say that; Actions speak louder than word?" When I was in grammar school, there was always some kids on the playground who would brag about how fast they could run or how high a tree they could climb. Their bragging would be most of the time met with, Oh yeah? Prove it! In short this is what James 2:14-26 is saying, Prove it. There is quite a difference in saying you believe and actually believing. Lip service is useless without actions backing it. There is the business of living out your faith in Jesus. And according to James 2:26, True faith will always be accompanied by actions. Our works are...
