For those of us in the ER, dealing with death in our own department is difficult enough. But from time to time we are also called upon to deal with a death that has occurred elsewhere in the hospital. When someone dies, a physician is needed to certify and then document that a death has actually occurred. This responsibility clearly falls to the treating physician. However, if it’s late at night or the middle of a weekend and that patient’s physician is not in the hospital, the ER doc on duty might seem a reasonable alternative. After all, he or she is in the hospital, awake, and “available.” One night Bill Jones called and asked me to go upstairs and pronounce one of his patients. “Sure, Bill,” I responded. “Mr. Blake in...
The ABCs of having a meaningful conversation with GOD We communicate with people every day–our family, friends, co-workers. The cashier at the grocery store, the barista making your coffee, the chatty woman on the bus. Conversation is a natural and essential part of our lives. But how are we to talk to God? It’s as simple as A, B, C. A: Focus on GOD. We can know about anyone by hearsay, but to actually know someone requires interaction. A rich prayer life requires us to be attentive to God. Unfortunately we, like Martha, are easily distracted by all we need to do (Luke 10:40). Our minds rush off to other thoughts, and we are not fully tuned into the conversation. If we are to speak openly with the Lord our God...
That is adoration. That is worship. That is acknowledging Him as King of kings and Lord of Lords. O Jesus, fill our cup. It is empty. Come and quench the thristing of our soul. Fill my cup and fill it up and make me whole. A woman in that town, who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisees house. So she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume. As she stood behind Him weeping, she began to wet His feet with her tears. Then she wiped it with her hair. Kiss them and poured perfume on them. Luke 7.37,38 For You o Lord are glorious and worthy to be praised. Unto You o Lord we lift our voices. You certainly are the Lamb upon the throne. This sinful recognize this wonderful truth and did what her...
There was a young woman who had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and had been given three months to live. So as she was getting her things 'in order,' she contacted her Pastor and had him come to her house to discuss certain aspects of her final wishes. She told him which songs she wanted sung at the service, what scriptures she would like read, and what outfit she wanted to be buried in. Everything was in order and the Pastor was preparing to leave when the young woman suddenly remembered something very important to her. 'There's one more thing,' she said excitedly... 'What's that?' came the Pastor's reply. 'This is very important,' the young woman continued. 'I want to be buried with a fork in my Right hand.'...
I dreamed that I went to Heaven and an angel was showing me around. We walked side-by-side inside a large workroom filled with angels. My angel guide stopped in front of the first section and said, 'This is the Receiving Section. Here, all Petitions to God said in Prayer are received. I looked around in this area, and it was terribly busy with so many angels sorting out petitions written on voluminous paper sheets and scraps from people all over the world. Then we moved on down a long corridor until we reached the second section. The angel then said to me, "This is the Packaging & Delivery Section. Here, the Graces & Blessings the people asked for are processed and delivered to the living persons...
I have moved you, and moved things in your life, that you may come to know Me better. I arrange circumstances in your life that you may better serve My Kingdom purposes and increase your reward in heaven. To know Me, and to serve with Me in the earth is the highest degree of blessing. Seek always that you may walk more closely with Me. The more you know Me and My Word, the more of My power you have access to. Seek to know Me and walk with Me above all else. Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Deuteronomy 4:29 But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God...
Did you plucked out your soul from its secret place? What kind of thoughts, desire and wants came out of it? Does God reign down deep in your soul? Every soul is special. They were given by Gods own breath. And God breatheth them and they were alive. Thy are beautiful because it is a God given gift to us to give Him glory, honor and praise to Him. We worship Jesus. All glory to You for being so loving kind heavenly Father. Our souls are far more significant than anything we can see in this world. Hold your soul to the mirror of your eye today and see what God is doing for you and for everyone else who knows your life. To see like star upon the sky, Hear the word of the Lord. All souls are mine... Eze. 18.4a Let us all...
When it is all done and said in this world... then we have to face eternity without an end in sight. We will not say anymore. Wipe away the tears from my eyes, Because there will be sorrows no more. Sleep a peaceful night. Get lots of rest in the Lord. For when it comes to friends forever, it is Jesus who can be our best friend ever. Glorify the name of the Lord. He is the One who give us hope for better days. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall be anymore pain. for the former things are passed away. Rev. 21.4 Whenever you feel down, bring all your problems to Jesus. He will confort your heart and heal you from all sickness that may...
"I thank God, whom I serve with a clear conscience the way my forefathers did, as I constantly remember you in my prayers night and day, longing to see you, even as I recall your tears, so that I may be filled with joy" (2 Timothy 1:3). Can prayer be an idol? What is the difference of persistent prayer and idolatry? Why does the New Testament record so much of Paul's intercession? Why does Jesus give entire parables on persistent prayer (Luke 18:1)? " Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up." 1 Samuel 12:23 As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by failing to pray for you. And I will teach you the way that is good and right. No...
