Sometimes, people need a little "nudging".Everyone has a "breaking point",and God might have to "throw something at them" to wake them up. Jonah didn't want to preach in Nineveh. So God grew a gourd overnight, and when it wilted Jonah longed for its presence. So God explained the point being shown, that if he felt this way about a gourd that sprung up overnight, how much more thousands of people.Next example, a blindness has come upon Israel{the Jews} until the time is right for it to be lifted. But when the Antichrist comes, although at first he'll make a deal with Israel and they'll follow him, when God opens their eyes through certain things, the veil is lifted and they "wake up."Now, for my personal case---I admit, although most...
Let me just started by offering congratulations to this nation's first African American, female Governor: Govenor Stacy Abrams Oh sweet Georgia, my beloved Georgia, why on earth, or in Heaven, would you allow the fox to guard the hen house, let alone count the eggs? Those eggs, those votes are representative of our little ones: Do they not deserve a better future? A future embodied in integrity and humanity wherein God is respected at least enough that we do not (yet again) seek to honor Him with a stolen office, in a nation that bears His name? Isaiah 61 : 8 I hate robbery for burnt offering. God is not mocked; He knows the truth and the very intent of every heart. GIeorgia, I pray that you will, in righteous judgement...
Anger (1) Thursday 8th November 2018 'Be angry, and do not sin.' Ephesians 4:26 NKJV We all get angry. But there's a right way and a wrong way to handle our anger. Cain was angry that God had accepted his bother Abel's sacrifice, but not his, so he murdered Abel (have a read of Genesis 4:1-8). Jesus handled his anger the right way: 'Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. "It is written," he said to them, "'My house will be called a house of prayer,' but you are making it 'a den of robbers.'" The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them' (Matthew 21:12-14 NIV). The Bible...
Meditating on God's Word Wednesday 7th November 2018 'On his law he meditates day and night.' Psalm 1:2 ESV How do you usually read the Bible? Do you tend to read it hurriedly when you have a few minutes to spare, or do you spend a lot of time reading it? Most of us will fall somewhere between the two. We mustn't underestimate the importance of meditating on God's Word. We might think of 'meditation' as something un-Christian, or something difficult and mysterious that only scholars and 'spiritual' people do. But really it just means thinking deeply and continuously about a passage of scripture, letting it take root, and asking God to reveal his meaning in those words. Reading the Bible is not about how much scripture we...
Be generous and be refreshed Tuesday 6th November 2018 'The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.' Proverbs 11:25 NLT There are many ways to be generous - with our time, money, words, talents. But why should we be generous? Proverbs 11:25 says, 'The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed' (NLT). When we give of ourselves to others, God rewards us for our generosity. The Bible tells us: 'A farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don't give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves a person who gives...
One disturbing habit I see that most people{even some Christians} have is making scapegoats. People don't like to take responsibility for their own role in something,or maybe they don't want to admit something painful to them, so they play the "blame game".It's "so and sos" fault.Started in the Garden of Eden. When God confronted Adam, he said,"The woman gave me, and I ate."{GAVE HIM, didn't FORCE him. He knew Gods instructions yet ate the fruit. And Eve, "the serpent mislead me, and I ate."The serpent misled, but again, Eve had instructions from God,she CHOSE to listen to the snake.{Satan}Noone forced anyone, but yet they avoided their own responsibility for what they did.So sometimes guilt causes someone to "make excuses" by telling...
A prayer for self-control Monday 5th November 2018 'God wants you to be holy, so don't be immoral in matters of sex.' 1 Thessalonians 4:3 CEV When God created Adam and Eve, he told them to 'multiply and replenish the earth' (see Genesis 1:28). That helps to explain why sex is one of the strongest of human drives. But if we allow this drive to take control and determine our behaviour, we can make bad decisions. The Bible says: 'God wants... each of you to learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honourable. Don't use your body for sexual sin like the people who do not know God' (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 NCV). When we have physical intimacy with a person we're not truly committed to, eventually someone's going to get...
