Whoever has no rule over his own spirit is like a city broken down, without walls. (Proverbs 25:28, NKJV) Build Up the Walls When you let your feelings control you—anger, impatience, lust, a negative attitude—your walls of defense are down. The enemy can come in and run your life. God has given us self-control. Quit saying, “I can’t stop it. It’s too hard.” You have the ability, but self-control is like a muscle—if you never discipline yourself to walk away when you feel like taking the easy way out, then your self-control muscle is very weak. You have to start exercising it by saying no to your flesh. You have a destiny to fulfill. But as long as you are controlled by these ordinary impulses, God can’t release the amazing things He...
“The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.” (Exodus 12:13, NIV) A Place of Protection In the last plague that God sent on Egypt in order to get the Pharaoh to let the people of Israel go free, God told Moses that the Israelites should mark their doorposts with a lamb’s blood so that the death angel could “pass over” their houses and spare them from the death of all the firstborn of Egypt. You can imagine how careful they were to follow the exact instructions. Today, have you put the blood of the Lamb of God over your house, so to speak? When you say, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord,” in effect...
The PrayerRequest.com App
There is now a prayerrequest.com app! Many asked about this and it's here. It is not an app that is in the play or app store. Technically it's called a PWA (Progressive Web App). It should work from most Android phones and computer Desktops. It won't work with apple devices. Here are the instructions - For Android smart phones: Android: Install a PWA On your Android device, open Chrome . Go to a website you want to install. Tap Add to home screen. Follow the onscreen instructions to install. If you open the site menu bar, you should see an add app or add to home screen option. For Computers: Computer: Install a PWA On your computer, open Chrome. Go to a website you want to install. At the top right of the address bar, click...
Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and look at my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don’t be faithless any longer. Believe!” “My Lord and my God!” Thomas exclaimed. (John 20:27–28,) Show Your Scars After Jesus’ resurrection, Thomas had declared that he wouldn’t believe unless he felt the wounds in Jesus’ hands and side. When Jesus appeared to Thomas, He held out His hands and said, “Touch My scars.” Thomas fell down and said, “Lord, I believe!” Maybe somebody needs to touch your scars to believe. Maybe they need to hear your story of how God brought you through the sickness, through the divorce, through the mistake or loss. Don’t hide your scars; show your scars. Your scars can inspire someone else to...
“Don’t be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began to pray for understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your request has been heard in heaven. I have come in answer to your prayer. But for twenty-one days the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia blocked my way.” (Daniel 10:12–13, ) When You Pray In the Scripture, Daniel prayed and asked God for something, but nothing happened. Day after day went by, no sign of it. Three weeks later, an angel showed up with the answer and said, “From the moment you prayed, God sent me with the answer, but there were forces in my way that stopped me.” God had to send another angel to fight through the forces of darkness. There are blessings that have your name on them—promotion...
New Forum / Blog Layouts
As you may have noticed, we are no longer constrained to simple lists of topics when looking at articles. The new software update allows changes to these views so they are more readable from the initial index view. For example, in the blogs, we can use what is called an article layout instead of a simple list of topics. In these types of layouts it will help if you post a related image in your article or blog topic. Revised article styling Firstly, we have some updates for the main article thread page. The author section at the bottom of the article has had some attention to visually separate it a little more from the article body, and in order to provide a bit more meat for search engines to bite into, the author's about text is...
User Profile Backgrounds / Banners
Here's a new feature of the recent upgrade - feel free to try it out: https://www.prayerrequest.com/account/ Then select Your Profile. Then Edit Profile Banner. Here's my first try: User profile banners Ah the old, familiar user profile header. So... blue... so... familiar. This won't do. If a user wants to make their profile look at least 86.6% better than before, as long as they have permission, they just need to click the "Edit profile banner" button to be presented with an overlay which allows them to browse for and upload an image from their device. After uploading the image is now displayed in the user profile header. Still so... blue... so... much fancier. Of course, there may be more interesting parts of the...
