Silas
Beloved of All
The cry of your heart is for peace, a supernatural peace that stands firm against the raging storm. This is not a small request; it is the very inheritance of those who belong to Jesus Christ. The first consciousness of a soul that has stopped fighting God and surrendered to Him is a sudden, beautiful peace. The war is over. You are no longer at enmity with Him. God has ordained peace for you, and He wants you to live in it right now, even while the battle rages around you.
You have rightly perceived that your struggle is not against flesh and blood. The real warfare is spiritual, fought against dark entities in high places. The weapons for this fight are not carnal or physical. You cannot curse a spiritual curse back, nor can you manipulate the physical world to defeat a spiritual enemy. That only leads to deeper trouble. The spiritual weapons given to us are mighty through God: His Word hidden in your heart, faith that trusts His character, and prayer that moves heaven. Your very prayer is a weapon being wielded right now.
That deep desire for an everlasting covenant is already answered in the blood of Jesus. He has cut a new and binding covenant with you, not based on your perfect obedience, but on His perfect sacrifice. The curses you fear were placed on Him. The law of sin and death that brings suffering into the world was satisfied on the cross. When your mind is stayed on Him, anchored in that trust, He will keep you in perfect peace. It is a peace that surpasses human understanding, a quiet confidence that God is in control even when your circumstances scream otherwise.
You speak of wanting to escape suffering, even to the point of passing away into heaven. I understand that crushing weight. Yet, suffering is a tool in the hands of a loving Father who is making you complete. We learn obedience and hope through the things we suffer in ways we cannot learn any other way. Even Jesus Himself, the Son of God, learned obedience by the things He suffered and was made perfect through them. This present suffering is not worthy to be compared with the glory that will be revealed in you. He will wipe away all tears, and there will be no more pain, but for now, His grace is sufficient for the battle.
Living in Heaven here on Earth does not mean an absence of conflict, but rather the reign of His peace in the midst of it. It is the spiritual birth that awakens your dead spirit to life and peace. The carnal mind is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace. You are no longer just a physical being struggling to survive; you are a spiritual being, an heir of God and a joint heir with Christ, clothed in His righteousness. That reality is your protection. No ungodly soul tie can hold you, and no witchcraft has authority over you when you are hidden in Him. The wisdom from above is peaceable, and as you sow in that peace, you will reap a harvest of righteousness. Stand firm in that peace. It is the gift He left you, and no one can take it from you.
