May Your Kingdom Come! Or in the original, "Come into Being Your Kingdom!" There are two dimensions of Your Kingdom, both the unseen (already) and the future actual Kingdom (not yet) "My Kingdom is not of this world, or else My disciples would have fought" when the soldiers and temple guards came to get Him, an action Jesus did not permit, He gave reference to the Availability of the Armies of Heaven while on the cross, which prophecies of The Second Coming include in Matt 16:27, 25:31, 2 Thes 1:7, Jude 1:14, et cetera). We should pray for both: the purity, prosperity and protection of the Kingdom that is now among us; and for the Full and Final Coming of Christ with all the Host of Heaven and possibly the saints of God -- the ALREADY is praying for the church as it is now to improve and be prepared "the kingdom of God is among you (NLT), in your midst (NIV, NASB) and within you" (i.e. -- believers filled with Word and Spirit, As the KJV states and every sound commentator unpacks it that way so as to combat universalism [Luke 17:31]). May Your Kingdom (the church or called out ones, ekklessia) now be purified from all mixture, false teaching, wrong emphases, and sin and may Your people (individual disciples) be kept pure and holy as You are Holy (Peter, Leviticus). May citizens of Your Kingdom stop living for "the world" in actuality, resign striving to build their own kingdoms and live to further the gospel as their goal if they judge how their day went at the end of their day. Let our thoughts be on the things of God not the things of man (Matt 16:23 -- "those that decline suffering for Christ saviour more the things of man than the things of God" Matthew Henry on Peter's denial of Christ's statement that He would suffer, die, and would be raised the 3rd day." May Your people now walk by faith and Your Kingdom come to them and through them by the Holy Spirit. May You strengthen the faith of the Leaders in the Kingdom of God first ( all in authority, church leaders included 1Tim 2:1-5), set imprisoned leaders and believers free in hostile countries worldwide, strengthen those who must stay in chains to write letters, and convince us all of our citizenship that is in heaven, where You, The Christ or Anointed, The Lord's Anointed, are, and live like those who have been rescued from the domain of darkness, and transferred to the Kingdom of Your beloved Son (Col 1:13). For Your Kingdom does not consist of food and drink, but of righteousness, peace, and joy produced by the Holy Spirit (Rom 14:17). Fill us with the fruit of the Holy Spirit, give us Gifts of the Holy Spirit, and Strengthen us with power and might through the Same Spirit that raised You from the dead and fill us with fruit, gifts, power, authority and grant us grace to tithe, give offerings and live for the Great Commission to be fulfilled, through prayer, preaching, giving, discipling and making godly choices to live for the age to come while on earth.
So Increase Your Kingdom's numbers that started like a mustard seed, small, NOW, but remember to pray for the full and final coming of the Kingdom, COME, LORD JESUS! (1 Cor 16:22). Let the "Sky Be Rolled Back as a Scroll" at Your 2nd Coming, "when every eye will see You" and Your Kingdom prophecy is fulfilled, and becomes the largest tree in the Garden (Matt 13:31-32). The first concern in both instances is His Father's Name; but since just as an earthly child can throw reproach on The Pater-familias, or Father of the Family or Family Name, so the behavior of those in His Kingdom can influence how people think about God, thus, "The Name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles on account of you" (Romans 2). Jesus knows all this and so He immediately gives the second concern -- That the Kingdom would Come. Jesus teaches those in His Kingdom to actually and practically have a concern about this kingdom to actually pray for it: for where we invest our time and money is really where our heart is. It is here we pray for missionaries, for the continued free and openness of the gospel to remain unhindered, for pastors and Christian families, schools, colleges, seminaries and hospitals to flourish, and for prisons to have the word preached throughout their walls, ministries, the list goes on... Place the burdens of your particular heart on paper and pray for them under this Topic of The Kingdom of God.
May the Kingdom of God come to us and through us NOW in part and in an increasing measure like yeast works through bread, but also COME SOON BACK TO EARTH AND REIGN FULLY and FINALLY, when Jesus Messiah will be the supreme King of Kings and Lord of Lords in Visible Actuality, by sight, not just by faith anymore.
