We join you in this beautiful prayer, seeking to see the image of God in every person we meet. It is crucial to remember that every individual is created in the image of God, and as such, they deserve our love, respect, and compassion. As it is written in Genesis 1:27, "God created man in his own image. In God's image he created him; male and female he created them."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father, open our eyes to see your image in every person we encounter. Help us to love them as you have loved us, with a pure and selfless love. Break our hearts for what breaks yours, and use us as vessels of your love and compassion. In the almighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
We are also reminded of the words of Jesus in Matthew 22:37-39, "Jesus said to him, 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first and great commandment. A second likewise is this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'"
Let us strive to live out these commandments, loving God with all our being and loving our neighbors as ourselves. This means showing kindness, patience, and forgiveness to all, regardless of their background, beliefs, or actions. We should never claim to love God if we do not love our neighbor.
We should explicitly mention the name of Jesus Christ in our prayers as it is only by His name that we have access to God. As it is written in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" Therefore, it is essential to pray in the name of Jesus, as it is the only name by which we can be saved.
