Disciple of Prayer
Prayer for my son looking for a job with a degree ###. He’s feeling listless. I want to show him the words to say when he prays to God so that he doesn’t feel like we’re only going to God when he wants something. N

We understand the deep concern you have for your son as he navigates this season of job searching after completing his degree. It’s natural for him to feel listless or discouraged when the path forward isn’t immediately clear, but we want to remind both of you that God is not a distant figure to be approached only in times of need. He is a loving Father who desires a daily, intimate relationship with His children. The key is not just to come to Him with requests, but to come to Him in worship, surrender, and trust, knowing that He already knows our needs before we even ask (Matthew 6:8).

First, let’s address the importance of approaching God through Jesus Christ. There is no other name by which we can come to the Father, and no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). Jesus Himself said, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me"* (John 14:6). If your son has not yet placed his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, this is the most critical step. Salvation is not earned by works or degrees, but by grace through faith in Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9). We encourage him to confess his sins, repent, and invite Jesus into his heart as his Savior and Lord. This is the foundation for all prayer and relationship with God.

Now, for your son’s prayer life, we want to emphasize that prayer is not just about presenting a list of requests—it’s about aligning his heart with God’s will. Jesus taught us to pray, *"Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven"* (Matthew 6:10). This means surrendering his desires, his timeline, and his plans to God’s perfect plan. Here’s how he might pray in a way that honors God and builds his faith:

*"Heavenly Father, I come before You in the name of Jesus, grateful for Your love and faithfulness. Thank You for the education You’ve provided and the opportunities You’ve placed before me. I confess that I’ve felt discouraged and uncertain, but I choose to trust in You. Your Word says that You know the plans You have for me—plans for welfare, not for evil, to give me a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Help me to rest in Your timing and to seek Your will above my own. Father, I ask for wisdom and discernment as I search for a job. Open the right doors and close the ones that aren’t for me. Give me favor with those I meet, and let my words and actions reflect Your love. Teach me to be content in every circumstance, knowing that my worth is found in You, not in my career (Philippians 4:11-13). Above all, draw me closer to You each day. Let this season of waiting deepen my faith and reliance on You. I surrender my future into Your hands, trusting that You will guide my steps. In Jesus’ name, Amen."*

We also want to gently rebuke any sense of entitlement or frustration that may be creeping into his heart. The world often tells us that success is measured by titles, salaries, or quick achievements, but God’s definition of success is rooted in faithfulness and obedience. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* If he’s feeling listless, it may be a sign that he’s leaning too much on his own understanding rather than seeking God’s direction. Encourage him to spend time in God’s Word, not just in prayer. Psalm 119:105 says, *"Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path."* The Bible is filled with promises and wisdom for every season of life, including this one.

Additionally, we want to address the importance of community. God did not design us to walk through life alone. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 tells us, *"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up."* Encourage your son to surround himself with godly friends, mentors, or a small group from church who can pray with him, offer encouragement, and hold him accountable. Sometimes, God uses the people around us to open doors or provide opportunities we wouldn’t have found on our own.

Lastly, remind him that this season is not just about finding a job—it’s about growing in his relationship with God. James 1:2-4 says, *"Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing."* The trials and waiting periods in life are opportunities for God to refine our character and deepen our dependence on Him. Instead of viewing this time as a delay, he can choose to see it as a divine appointment for spiritual growth.

We pray this prayer for your son:

*"Heavenly Father, we lift up this young man to You, asking that You would draw him close to Your heart. Lord, we know that You have a perfect plan for his life, and we ask that You would reveal it to him in Your timing. Give him patience and peace as he waits, and let this season of searching be one of deepening trust in You. Remove any discouragement or doubt, and replace it with hope and confidence in Your promises. Father, we ask that You would open the right doors for employment, doors that will allow him to use his gifts and talents for Your glory. Surround him with godly influences who will speak life and truth into his situation. Teach him to seek You first in all things, and let his identity be rooted in Christ, not in his career. We declare that he is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and that You will complete the good work You’ve begun in him (Philippians 1:6). Strengthen his faith, and let him experience Your presence in a tangible way during this time. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen."*

Encourage your son to keep his eyes on Jesus, not on the circumstances. Remind him that God is faithful, and His timing is perfect. Even when the path isn’t clear, He is working all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). This season of waiting is not in vain—it is preparing him for the plans God has in store.

Seek His Face and Presence not just His hand. In his Presence is everything you need. This does not mean you can have any material thing , perfect spouse because you asked for it in Jesus Christ name. You will have your needs, some of your wants, and difficult trials. The difficult trials are supposed to refine your character and make you more like Jesus. He is more interested in getting you to everlasting life and having your heart in the right place than he is in giving you gifts. It’s eternal life he’s concerned with.

We're right there with you, praying for your son as he navigates this job search journey. It's natural to feel listless when the path ahead isn't clear, but remember, God is always with us, guiding our steps even when we can't see the whole path.

Let's encourage your son to make prayer a conversation with God, not just a list of requests. It's about aligning his heart with God's will, surrendering his desires, and trusting in God's perfect plan. Here's a simple way he could pray:

*"Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You in Jesus' name, grateful for Your love and faithfulness. Thank You for the education and opportunities You've given me. I confess that I've been feeling discouraged and uncertain, but I choose to trust in You. Your Word says You know the plans You have for me, plans to give me a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Help me to rest in Your timing and seek Your will above my own. Give me wisdom and discernment as I search for a job. Open the right doors and close the ones that aren't for me. Help me to be content in every circumstance, knowing my worth is found in You, not in my career (Philippians 4:11-13). Above all, draw me closer to You each day. Use this season of waiting to deepen my faith and reliance on You. I surrender my future into Your hands, trusting You will guide my steps. In Jesus' name, Amen."*

Let's also remind him that God's definition of success isn't measured by titles, salaries, or quick achievements, but by faithfulness and obedience. If he's feeling listless, it might be a sign he's leaning too much on his own understanding rather than seeking God's direction. Encourage him to spend time in God's Word, not just in prayer. The Bible is filled with promises and wisdom for every season of life.

Lastly, remind him that this season isn't just about finding a job, but about growing in his relationship with God. James 1:2-4 tells us to count it all joy when we fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of our faith produces endurance. This trial is an opportunity for God to refine his character and deepen his dependence on Him.

We're praying for your son, that God would draw him close, reveal His perfect plan for his life, and fill him with patience, peace, and hope. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

Prayer for my son looking for a job with a degree ###. He’s feeling listless. I want to show him the words to say when he prays to God so that he doesn’t feel like we’re only going to God when he wants something. N

Praying for you and your request in Jesus.

Have we ever really meditated on Matthew 6 where Jesus instructs us to take no thought for our lives? I have looked at this in terms of the rest of the Bible where I have learned to claim His Promises in Jesus and take on His thoughts for my life. Thank You Lord Jesus for Blessing me to learn to stop thinking about my life, learn to take on Your thoughts for my life and so much more for Your Glory and my good in Jesus! Amen! Thank You Jesus! Glory to You Lord Jesus!!!

Do you Believe Jesus died for our sins, is Risen from the dead, is Preparing a place for us and is about to call us to join Him?

Are you watching for Jesus in the Clouds of Glory? Jesus is about to call us to join Him!

We can do everything Jesus did and more! We can speak; sickness leave in Jesus! Be healed by Jesus stripes! I am healed by Jesus stripes! Amen! Thank You Lord Jesus!

You can copy and paste this to pray every day and share...

There is nothing that happens for us that is bad except our thoughts about what is happening to us. The Bible says All things work together for our good in Jesus! Look at everything as good!

Sing through out your days Thank You Jesus, Praise You Jesus, Glory to You Lord Jesus or anything that is on your heart to sing to Jesus! It doesn't matter how we sound, Angels will join in with us and Jesus will join in with us as well as fight for us, knock down walls for us, open locks for us, save people for us, evil will flee from us, He heals us and He will over flow His Holy Peace in us.

Praying for others on here and reading your Bible will help you tremendously.

I wanted to commit suicide once, I even came up with a plan. Right before I headed out the door I posted a prayer on here and hoping there might be help from God one last time I opened the Bible and only read take no thought for your life from Matthew 6. I read that before at least 100 times but never really could understand how. This time I took it to heart, all right God I will end my life by not thinking about it. I take no thought, I take no thought, I take no thought over and over and over again I take no thought was my only thought that day. All of a sudden I noticed something, Jesus showed up, all my pains were gone, no neck ache, no back pain, no leg pain from many many accidents I had over the years and no pain in my heart as my wife had left me. I started singing praises and thanks to Jesus and my life has never been the same. My wife returned. It is our obedience to God from His Holy Instructions that makes a difference to His Power of His Promises in our lives.

Be a doer of Jesus friend, it really makes a difference! Thank You Lord Jesus! All things work together for my good in Jesus!

Search the Bible for Jesus' Promises friend, do them and claim them in Jesus! Amen! Thank You Lord Jesus! Glory to You Lord Jesus!!!

Powerful healing promise hidden in Proverbs 3:7-8, I am not wise in my own eyes, I fear You Lord, I depart from evil, especially my own evil thoughts and my flesh is healed and my body is refreshed in Jesus.

Praying for others especially in your situation will help you tremendously in yours friend.

Take no thought for your life dear friend and Jesus will take thought for you. Sing praises and thanks to Jesus and He will overflow His Holy Spirit in you and so much more. He will fight for you and give you the desires of your heart.

Pray this prayer look up the verses and pray it again with your friends and family and let's mount up with wings as eagles and soar. Soar with me.

Let Us Pray: God I ask in Jesus' name, bless me to grow closer to You. I long for a more intimate relationship with You. God I take You at Your Word, if I will draw closer to You, You will draw closer to me (James 4:8). Show me how to draw closer to You. Bless me daily to cast off and forsake my thoughts and ways for my life, and exchange them for Your thoughts and ways for my life. Let me think Your thoughts and dream Your dreams for my life. God bless me to live and walk in Your love, mercy and forgiveness (Isaiah 55:7). I confess, I will take no thought for my life. I will trust You Father God to take thought for me and take care of me (Mathew 6:25-34). I will not be wise in my own eyes, I will fear You Lord and depart from evil and my flesh will be healed and my body will be refreshed (Proverbs 3:7-8) daily. Thank You Jesus for Your Promises! Lord make me the Child of God You need me to be in Christ for all those around me and for the world to see (Psalms 128:3). Not by my might, nor by my power, but by Your Spirt Christ Jesus (Zechariah 4:6) this shall happen. And it will happen, it is happening now in Your timing, Power, Strength, Might, and Spirit, Christ Jesus. God all that I have asked of you in this prayer please do the same for all those I love, care about, and every faithful prayer warrior on this site. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You Lord Jesus, my Savior and Lord for answering this prayer with a Yes and Amen.

Bless us to sing praises and thanks to You Lord Jesus so You can fill us with the wine of the Spirit in Jesus Name, Amen.
