You took him away from me, Lord God. Why?

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Dear Lord,

I don’t know why you had to take ### away from me. You know how hard I prayed for this guy but it seems every time I pray for someone here, you keep taking them away from me.

I am losing hope. It’s like I cannot find peace and happiness. I bring them to you, I surrender all of them but you keep taking them away instead of making them stay.

Why Lord? Why must you forsake me? What have I done wrong? All I ever wanted was to love and be loved yet my prayers do not get answered and I am the one left miserable and in pieces,

Please please if you are there, please give me a sign. Please show me. Please make me understand why this had to happen.

Thank you so much.

Amen.

We hear the deep anguish in your heart, and we come alongside you in prayer, lifting your pain before the throne of grace. Your cry echoes the words of the psalmist in Psalm 22:1-2, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from helping me, and from the words of my groaning? My God, I cry in the daytime, but you don’t answer; in the night season, and am not silent." Even in your despair, you are not alone, God hears the brokenhearted, and He draws near to those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).

First, we must gently but firmly address the way you are approaching relationships. Your focus seems to be on a "guy" rather than seeking a godly spouse who honors the Lord. The Bible is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, designed to reflect Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). If your desire is for companionship, we encourage you to seek a spouse, a fellow believer who shares your faith and commitment to God’s design for marriage, not just a temporary relationship. Courtship should always have marriage as its goal, and any romantic involvement outside of that framework can lead to heartache and sin.

Your frustration with unanswered prayers is understandable, but we must examine whether your requests align with God’s will. James 4:3 warns, "You ask, and don’t receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it for your pleasures." If your prayers are centered on a person rather than God’s perfect plan for your life, it may be why you feel He is "taking them away." God is not cruel, He is a loving Father who knows what is best for you, even when it doesn’t feel that way. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

You also express doubt in God’s presence, asking for a sign. But faith is not built on signs, it is built on the unshakable truth of God’s Word. Hebrews 11:1 says, "Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, proof of things not seen." Instead of waiting for a sign, we encourage you to cling to the promises of Scripture. God has not forsaken you, He is working all things together for your good, even when you cannot see it (Romans 8:28).

We must also address the mention of "###" in your prayer. If this refers to a person who was not a godly spouse or was involved in a relationship that did not honor God (such as fornication, adultery, or an unbiblical union), then we must rebuke that sin in Jesus’ name. The Lord does not bless relationships that violate His commands. If this was the case, His removal of that person may have been an act of mercy to protect you from further harm.

Let us pray for you now:

"Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our sister who is grieving and confused. Lord, You see her pain, and You collect every tear in Your bottle (Psalm 56:8). We ask that You would comfort her with Your presence and remind her that You are near to the brokenhearted. Father, we repent on her behalf for any misplaced desires, any longing for relationships that do not honor You. We pray that You would purify her heart and align her desires with Your will. Give her faith to trust You even when she cannot see the path ahead. Help her to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness (Matthew 6:33), knowing that all else will be added unto her. Lord, if there has been sin in her relationships, we ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing (1 John 1:9). Restore her hope, renew her strength, and let her find her satisfaction in You alone. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can approach You. Amen."

We encourage you to shift your focus from seeking a person to seeking the Lord. Spend time in His Word, in prayer, and in fellowship with other believers. As you draw closer to Him, He will direct your steps toward the spouse He has prepared for you, or, if He calls you to singleness, He will fill you with a joy that surpasses understanding. Psalm 37:4 says, "Delight yourself also in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." When your delight is in Him, your desires will align with His perfect will.

You are not forgotten. You are deeply loved by the Creator of the universe, and He is working even now to bring beauty from your ashes (Isaiah 61:3). Keep pressing into Him, and He will make your path clear.

We hear the ache in your words, and we want you to know we’re holding you up in prayer. It’s hard when it feels like God isn’t hearing us, isn’t it? But even when we don’t understand, He’s still there, still working, even when the pain feels overwhelming.

We know this must be so confusing for you right now. It’s okay to be honest with God about how you’re feeling, He can handle your questions and your hurt. Maybe instead of just asking “why,” we can ask Him to help us trust Him, even when we don’t see the answers yet. Sometimes His silence isn’t rejection; it’s an invitation to lean on Him even more.

We pray that you’d feel His presence wrapped around you like a warm hug, reminding you that you’re never alone. Ask Him to open your eyes to see His love in new ways, even in the middle of this heartache. And if there’s anything we can do to pray with you or encourage you, just say the word.

Father, we lift this dear one up to You right now. Hold her close, Lord. Help her to feel Your love in a real and tangible way. Give her peace that only comes from You, and let her know deep in her soul that You haven’t forgotten her. Remind her that Your plans for her are good, even when they don’t look the way she expected. Heal her heart, Lord, and fill her with hope again. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I am praying for you. I am praying for Jesus to reveal the reason for this because sometimes He answers our prayers in the best way for us but we still do not realize it. I am praying for your godly partner to appear not people who will not make you happy in the long term. I am praying for you to seek God's face so He will guide you. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We want you to know how deeply we have carried your heart before the Lord these past days. Your raw honesty touched us, and we have wept and prayed with you over the loss of someone so dear. We asked God not to leave you in this ache, but to meet you in it—to show you that even when He takes, He does not abandon. We pleaded for Him to quiet the “why” with the peace that surpasses understanding, and to remind you that your worth is not measured by the answers you receive but by the love He has already given through His Son.

If the Lord has shown you even a flicker of light—a verse that spoke, a friend who listened, a moment of unexpected calm—we would love to hear it. Your praise report could be the very encouragement another broken heart needs to keep trusting.

If the heaviness still lingers and the questions feel unanswered, we ask you to post your request again. We are not walking away; we will continue to stand beside you, lifting your name before the throne until you sense His nearness. You are not forsaken, and you are not alone.

May the Father wrap you in His arms, may the Spirit whisper hope into your spirit, and may Jesus Christ, our risen Savior, draw you closer with every step you take toward Him. In His precious name we pray.
