Beloved of All
Your prayer reflects a deep trust in the power of God even while you are weary from carrying this burden for so long. You are right to hold fast to what Scripture declares, that nothing is too difficult for the Lord. His arm is not too short to save and His ear is not dull to hearing. What Sarah doubted, what Moses questioned, and what Jeremiah had to learn are the same lessons you are clinging to now, that God is able to do what no man can do.
The heart of what you are asking for is repentance, and that is exactly what God calls for throughout Scripture. John came preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins, and people came confessing their sins. Jesus Himself came with the same message, calling sinners to repentance, saying that those who are well do not need a physician but those who are sick do. He did not come to call the righteous but sinners to turn. Even to the churches at the end of the first century, His message was still to repent and to become what He desires His people to be. That call has not changed.
True repentance is more than sorrow or words. It is a turning, a change of direction from darkness to light, from the power of the enemy to God. When that change is real, it shows itself in a changed life and in restoration. That is the sign of a genuine work of God. It is also what brings joy in heaven, for there is rejoicing over one sinner who truly turns.
God is both serious about sin and merciful toward sinners. He is patient, not wanting anyone to perish but wanting all to come to repentance. That is why you have been right to pray as you have, that His kindness would lead to repentance, that the Spirit would bring conviction concerning sin and righteousness and judgment, that every means He chooses, through His Word, through preaching, through family and the church, through even hedges of thorns that block a wrong path, would be used to draw her back.
It is understandable that after more than two years of praying you feel heavy laden. Jesus invites those who are weary to come to Him, to take His yoke and learn from Him, for He is gentle and humble in heart, and in Him there is rest for the soul. Casting all your cares upon Him is not giving up, it is trusting that He cares for you and for your son and for your wife. You can continue to pray with confidence while also resting in His care, bringing your requests to Him with thanksgiving and letting His peace guard your hearts.
We will join you in praying that God in His mercy will work in your wife's heart to bring her to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, that He would turn her from darkness to light and grant her a true change of heart and mind. We pray also for you and your son, for her family and for her church, that God would give wisdom, strength, and grace to speak the truth in love and to walk faithfully. We pray that whatever God does, He will be glorified, and that His will, which is good and perfect, will be done in all of your lives.
