For 2 yrs 8 mo... Jesus, we are weary and heavy laden, let us take Your yoke upon ourselves and learn from You, for You are gentle and humble in heart, and we really need rest for our souls, Matt 11:28-30. Have mercy on us, her and my son and her family and turn her from darkness to light, from the power of shatan to God, Acts 26:18-20, in Jesus' Name

We join with you in this burden for your wife and we hear the weariness in your cry after 2 years and 8 months of faithful, scripture saturated prayer. We thank God that you have not ceased to stand in the gap for your marriage, for your son, and for her family, and that you know our Father is able to reach her where no man can.

You have prayed rightly according to the Word, asking for His kindness to lead her to repentance, for the Holy Spirit to convict her concerning sin, righteousness, and judgment, for the Lord to hedge her way with thorns so she cannot find her false paths, and for Him to use her church and family to call her back. These are all biblical prayers. We are reminded that the Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness, but is patient with us, not wishing that anyone should perish, but that all should come to repentance, 2 Pet 3:9, and that His word will not return void but will accomplish what He pleases, Isa 55:11. Even when we cannot see the work, He is working. We also hear your honest confession that you are weary and heavy laden, and we bring that weariness to Jesus with you, for He said Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light, Matt 11:28-30.

We want to encourage you to not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up, Gal 6:9. God honors the covenant of marriage, for marriage is to be held in honor among all, Heb 13:4, and a husband is called to love his wife even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it, Eph 5:25. Part of that love is patient endurance and continuing to walk in holiness and gentleness yourself, for the unbelieving or wandering spouse may be won without a word by the behavior of the believing spouse, when they see your chaste and respectful behavior, 1 Pet 3:1-2. Continue to be faithful in prayer, in the Word, and in loving your son and extending grace while not endorsing sin, trusting that the Lord knows how to turn a heart from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that she may receive remission of sins, Acts 26:18.

We pray together with you now.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we come before Your throne of grace and we lift up this dear brother, his wife, his son, and her whole family to You. Lord, You know how to reach her. Nothing is hidden from You and nothing is too hard for You. We ask that You would continue to pour out Your kindness upon her to lead her to repentance, Rom 2:4, and that Your Holy Spirit would convict her concerning sin, righteousness and judgment, John 16:8. Hedge up her way with thorns, Hos 2:6, so that the ways of darkness lose their appeal and she longs for home. Use her church and family as You have promised when dealing with a wandering soul, Matt 18:15-17, and speak to her through dreams, visions, preaching, friends and evangelists, Joel 2:28, that she may hear Your voice and turn. Turn her from darkness to light, from the power of Satan to God, Acts 26:18, grant her godly sorrow that works repentance, and restore her to Yourself and to this covenant marriage. And Father, have mercy on this husband who is weary and heavy laden. Give him Your rest for his soul, Matt 11:28-30, renew his strength, guard his heart from bitterness or despair, and help him to take Your yoke and learn from You day by day. Sustain his son and protect that child's heart, and let this family see Your redeeming power. We pray that Your will be done in this marriage for Your glory, and we ask all these things in the mighty and only saving name of Jesus, through whom we have access to You, John 14:6, Amen.

We hear how faithfully you have prayed for your wife, and how heavy these two years and eight months have been. To keep bringing her before the Lord day after day, in so many ways, and still be waiting is exhausting. It makes sense you are asking Jesus for rest for your soul right now.

We are grateful for your persistence and for your honesty about being weary and heavy laden. Long seasons of intercession take a toll on our bodies and spirits, and the Lord does not ask you to carry this burden in your own strength. He is gentle and humble in heart, and He invites you to keep seeking Him while letting Him carry you.

One steady help in a long wait like this is to not walk it alone. If you have a trusted pastor or mature brother in your church, consider asking him to meet with you regularly just to listen and pray with you, and to help you think through how to care well for yourself and your son in this time. It can also help to protect a simple weekly rhythm that is not about the struggle, a meal, a walk, time together as father and son where your soul can breathe and remember God's goodness.

Father, we lift this husband to You, and we lift his wife, his son and her family. You know each of them by name and You see how weary he is. We ask for Your mercy to be at work in her life and for Your rest and wisdom to guard him. Draw each of them closer to Yourself and guide their next steps in Your love. In Jesus' name, amen.

For two years and eight months you have kept watch at the mercy seat, and your prayer shows that you have learned how to pray according to the mind of God. You have asked for that which God loves to give, that kindness which leads to repentance, that conviction of sin and of righteousness and of judgment to come which only the Spirit can work, that hedge of thorns which turns the wanderer back, and that faithful dealing of His people according to Matthew eighteen. You have pleaded that He would speak by any means, by Word and preaching, by family and friends, by dreams and visions if it please Him. This is good and right praying, for repentance is not the work of the flesh but the gift of God, to be preached in the name of Jesus Christ.

You are weary and heavy laden, and the Lord Jesus Himself invites you to come unto Him. He does not say, come to Moses or come to John and hear repent and prepare, but come unto Me and I will give you rest. There is a rest He gives at once when by faith you trust Him, a rest from the burden of sin and care, and there is a rest you find as you learn of Him who is gentle and humble in heart. You have the first rest as a believer, now seek the daily found rest of the learner. Faith alone can give it. When the pillars tremble, faith can make the soul steadfast because it rests not in the world and not even in the Church, but in Christ Himself. As the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot till she returned to the ark, so your soul will find rest only as you are pulled in unto Him. Come again and recline upon the promise and trust Him for your wife, your son, and yourself.

Be not discouraged though the answer tarries. The eyes of mercy are quicker than the eyes of repentance. The prodigal did not see his father while yet a great way off, but his father saw him and ran and fell upon his neck. So the Lord sees where your wife is even now, though she does not yet see Him. Remember Manasseh, who for fifty five years did evil in the sight of the Lord and yet when he was bound in affliction and sought the Lord God of his fathers, infinite mercy visited him. If such a wretch was brought to repentance, surely no one need despair. The same grace that turned the prodigal and that humbled Manasseh is able to turn her from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God.

Ask still for that repentance unto life which is accompanied by spiritual life in the soul and ensures eternal life to every one who possesses it. There is a carnal repentance that is of the flesh, a kind of rest of conscience which lulls men to sleep and lets them return to sin as if nothing had happened, and there is a true repentance which is the work of the Spirit of God and gives God glory. True repentance yields works meet for repentance, it is practical and it lasts, it makes a rainbow with tears of grief for sin and glances of hope at the love of Christ and His finished work. The least measure of it, if it be sincere and leads a soul to look out of self to Christ and to Christ only, will save the soul, for faith and repentance come together into the soul, the one purging from dead works and the other filling with living works. Pray that God will grant her such a broken and contrite spirit, in which hypocrisy is gone and the heart is set upon things divine and everlasting.

We will pray with you. O Lord our God, who hast shown us in Thy Word that goodness leads to repentance and that Thou alone canst convict of sin, have mercy upon this weary husband and his son and upon this wife and her family. Thou knowest how to reach her, Thou knowest where she is. Work in her that godly sorrow which needeth not to be repented of, grant her repentance unto life through Jesus Christ alone, and give her faith to look to Him. Hedge her way if it be Thy will, speak by Thy Word and by Thy people, and turn her from darkness to light. And to this burdened one who comes heavy laden, give Thou rest. Teach him to take Thy yoke and learn of Thee, and keep his soul in perfect rest as he trusts in Jesus. Bring this household to know the overflowing comfort of Thy forgiveness and the joy which is in Heaven over one sinner that repenteth, for Jesus sake. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your long and faithful prayer for your wife over these two years and eight months has been heard, and your weariness is understood. The Lord Jesus Himself says, Come to me all you who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest, for His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Sin also has a labor and a heavy burden, heavier than virtue, and it weighs upon the soul like lead, but Christ did not call you to Him to accuse you, but to take away sins and to place you in security.

We join you in praying as you have prayed, that God in His kindness would lead her to repentance, that the Holy Spirit would convict of sin and righteousness and judgment to come, and that He would turn her from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, for salvation is through Jesus Christ alone. We pray that He would hedge her way where it leads away from Him and use every faithful means, the preaching of the Word, the church, family, and friends, to call her back to Himself.

Marriage is a bond ordained by God, and Scripture teaches, art thou bound unto a wife, seek not to be loosed. Marriage is honorable and it preserves holiness by keeping husband and wife faithful to one another alone. Therefore we do not ask God to bless any way that departs from that covenant, but we ask Him to strengthen what He has joined together. We pray that He will help you to love your wife not only for her sake but for Christ's sake, keeping the fear of God before your eyes, and to establish your home in gentleness and faithfulness, so that your son and her family may see a witness of patient love.

Do not despair, even when the time feels long. The present labor is small compared to the recompense, and though you must toil, toil in repentance and virtue bears abundant fruit. Continue to wash away what is stained by repentance, by tears, by prayers and by works of mercy, and continue to invite Christ into your home, for where He is invited the marriage is adorned far more than with outward display.

We pray now for mercy for you, for your wife, for your son and for her family, that God would give rest to your souls as you take His yoke and learn from Him who is gentle and humble in heart, and that He would bring your wife to true repentance and to reconciliation with God and within the covenant of marriage, in Jesus Name.

Your honest and persevering prayer for your wife over these two years and eight months is heard. You have been carrying a heavy burden, praying in many biblical ways for God to reach her, and it is understandable that you feel weary and heavy laden. Jesus speaks directly to that weariness when He invites those who labor and are heavy laden to come to Him, to take His yoke and learn from Him because He is gentle and humble in heart, and to find rest for their souls.

There is a rest that remains for the people of God, and Scripture says we enter that rest by believing. The work was finished from the foundation of the world, and God rested. We are invited to cease from our own works and striving and to rest in the finished work of Jesus on the cross. It is hard to rest when you cannot see what God is doing, and you would rest more easily if He showed you every step. Yet the only place you will ever truly rest is in faith, not in your own skill or effort or ability to pray perfectly. To commit your way to the Lord and to trust in Him is to place the burden on One who is able to keep it and to bring His perfect will to pass. The fruit of that commitment is rest. Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him, and do not fret because of the one who seems to prosper in a wrong way. God will take care of what you have committed to Him.

God loves your wife and is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. That is why His patience can seem like delay. His kindness is meant to lead to repentance, and the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin and of righteousness and of judgment to come. Only God can turn a heart from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, and true repentance is more than tears over lost blessing. It is a real change of heart that brings forth fruit in a new life. You have prayed that God would hedge her way as a loving restraint, that He would use preaching, the witness of believers, family, and even dreams and visions to speak to her, and that the church would faithfully call her back. Continue to pray those things, but leave the work and the timing in His hands. You cannot convict or convert her. You can intercede, and you have a great Intercessor with you. Jesus is at the right hand of the Father and lives to make intercession for His own. He does not condemn those who belong to Him but intercedes for them, that they would be received not as strangers or sinners but as cleansed and beloved.

God's design for marriage is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and sexual union belongs within that covenant alone. When one partner turns away, the pain is deep. Scripture teaches that if an unbelieving spouse is willing to remain, the believing one should not seek to end the marriage, for the presence of a believing husband or wife brings a holy influence into the home that covers the children, and who knows whether that faithful life, lived in the grace of Christ, may be the means God uses to draw the other to salvation. If the unbelieving one chooses to depart, the believing one is not under bondage in that case, but the call is to remain faithful before the Lord and to let your life display Christ. Keep rendering love and honor as God enables you, not to earn God's favor but as a witness of His grace.

So I pray with you now that the Lord will have mercy on you, on your wife, on your son, and on both families. May He grant your wife true repentance and turn her heart to the light of Christ, and may He grant you rest as you commit her fully to Him. May you cease from the striving that exhausts you and find daily rest in Jesus and in what He has already accomplished for you. May your son be guarded and your home be filled with peace as you wait patiently for the Lord to work in His way and time, in Jesus name.
