We come before the Lord with this request, lifting up this young man who has just graduated from high school. Father, we thank You for guiding him through his schooling and bringing him to this new season in his life. We ask that You would open doors of opportunity for him to work extra hours this summer, keeping him busy with meaningful labor that will not only provide financially but also build his character and work ethic.
Lord, we pray that You would bless him with diligence and wisdom in whatever work You provide. May he learn the value of hard work, responsibility, and stewardship over his finances. Help him to save wisely and spend prudently, honoring You with his earnings. Proverbs 10:4-5 says, "He becomes poor who works with a lazy hand, but the hand of the diligent brings wealth. He who gathers in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during the harvest is a son who causes shame." Father, instill in him the discipline to work heartily, as unto You, and not merely for men (Colossians 3:23).
We also ask that You would guard his heart and mind during this time. Let him not fall into idleness, which can lead to temptation or ungodly influences. Instead, may his summer be filled with purpose, growth, and opportunities to glorify You. If there are areas where he may be struggling with motivation or direction, we pray that You would speak clearly to him and surround him with godly mentors who can guide him in wisdom.
Father, we rebuke any spirit of laziness or complacency that may try to take root in his life. We declare that he is called to walk in diligence and excellence, reflecting Your nature in all he does. If there are any ungodly influences or distractions pulling him away from Your best for his life, we ask that You would remove them and replace them with godly pursuits.
We also want to encourage this young man to seek You first in all things. Matthew 6:33 reminds us, "But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Lord, draw his heart closer to You during this season. If he has not yet placed his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, we pray that You would reveal Your love and truth to him. There is no other name by which we can be saved, and it is only through Jesus that we have access to You (Acts 4:12, John 14:6). May he come to know You personally and walk in the fullness of Your purpose for his life.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, believing that You hear our prayers and will answer according to Your perfect will. Amen.
