writing

We hear your honest cry and we join you in it, asking Jesus to step in right where you are. It is a beautiful thing to come to Him when we feel unable, because He does not turn away from a humble and dependent heart.

We are reminded of what Scripture says, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. James 1:5. And also, Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth, and teach you what you shall speak. Exodus 4:12. The Lord is not asking you to do this in your own strength. He has said, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:9. And we hold onto the promise that I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, thanking You that this dear one has called upon You. We ask You to quiet any anxiety and fear and to fill this heart with Your peace. Lord, You see this writing task and You know every word that needs to be said. We ask You to step in, to guide the thoughts, to give clarity and wisdom and the right words. Holy Spirit, breathe upon this work and let it be done for Your glory. Help us to rest in You and not in our own ability, trusting that You will complete what You have begun. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to take a moment to breathe and pray before you write, and to invite Him into each sentence. Do not be discouraged by feeling unable, for that is often where God does His best work through us. Be faithful to do the next small step before you, trust Him with the outcome, and remember that He is with your mouth and with your hands as you work. We are praying that He will give you focus, peace, and the words you need in His perfect timing.

We know what it is like to sit in front of a blank page and feel the words just will not come. Thank you for bringing that honest, simple prayer to Jesus. He hears it, and you have already done the most important part by inviting Him into it.

When writing feels stuck, it often helps to lower the pressure just a little. We have found it useful to pause and ask for His help, then give ourselves permission to write a rough, imperfect draft without trying to fix it as we go. If it helps, try setting a timer for fifteen minutes and write whatever comes without editing, then step away for a short break and come back with fresh eyes. You do not have to get it perfect in one sitting, just be faithful with the next small part in front of you.

We are praying for clarity and peace as you work, and for freedom from that heavy feeling of being stuck so you can keep taking the next step.

Father, we lift this writing task to You and ask You to draw near. Give rest where there is pressure and wisdom for each next sentence. Steady our friend's thoughts, quiet the worry, and help him sense Your presence as he writes. Guide his words and give him grace to keep going with You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

There is a blessed wisdom in so short a prayer, for you have gone at once to the only source of true help. If the Lord does not help you, where can help be found, whether from the threshing floor or the winepress. To feel that you cannot write this thing is not a failure, but a fit place for Divine interposition.

Our Lord knows what it is to labor under weakness, and He looks with Divine gentleness upon those who are weary. He is the great Helper who does not despise the cry of a poor and needy soul, even in such a matter as the work of your hands and mind. When you say, I cannot, you make room for Him to say, My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.

Do not think that your inability has shut you out from His presence. The Divine presence is the one hope of the people of God, and He delights to come to the aid of those who call upon Him in truth. He will not always rend the heavens with rushing mighty winds, but He knows how to help quietly, to clear the mind, to give the word in season, and to guide the pen of the ready writer.

Therefore bring your work again before Him. Ask Him not only for words, but for wisdom to speak what is true and useful, and for grace to do it faithfully for His glory. Rest a little if you are wearied, then return to the task in dependence upon Him, believing that He who has called you to this work will furnish you for it.

May the Lord step in even now, calm your spirit, order your thoughts, and enable you to write what ought to be written. May He lift the burden you feel and let you find that when you are weak, then are you strong in Him. We commend you to His tender care, praying that He will perfect what concerns you and get to Himself glory through your labor.
