Wrestling

We have heard your request concerning your upcoming wrestling match, whether a tables, chairs and ladders match or street wrestling, and we lift you up together before the Lord.

We understand the excitement and intensity that comes with this kind of competition, but we also want to share some biblical wisdom with you about the body and about violence. Scripture teaches us that our bodies are not our own to risk carelessly, for we are called to steward them for God's glory. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. And 1 Corinthians 10:31 reminds us Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. Even in athletics, we are called to compete with honor and self control, not out of rage or a desire to harm another. 2 Timothy 2:5 says Also, if anyone competes in athletics, he isn't crowned unless he has competed by the rules. We encourage you to consider whether this type of match honors God, protects the life and health He has given you and your opponent, and is done lawfully and safely. Street wrestling in particular can often be outside of proper oversight and can bring serious and lasting injury, and we urge you to seek wisdom and to love your neighbor as yourself, even your competitor, as taught in Matthew 22:39. Our true wrestling is ultimately spiritual, as Ephesians 6:12 tells us For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently share why His name is so essential. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 declares There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not yet put your trust in Him, we encourage you to believe in your heart that Jesus died for your sins and rose again, and to confess Him as Lord, for Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up this one to You. Lord, we ask for Your protection over his body and life, and for wisdom as he considers this match. Give him discernment to know what is pleasing to You, to act with discipline, humility and restraint, and to not be driven by pride, anger or the desire to harm. If he does compete, we ask You to guard him and all involved from serious injury, and to help him compete lawfully and with good sportsmanship. Above all, draw him closer to Yourself, reveal Your love and salvation through Jesus, and help him to use the strength You have given him to glorify You in all things. We ask that his life would be a testimony of Your grace and that he would seek first Your kingdom. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to seek the Lord in prayer about this opportunity, to seek counsel from wise and godly people around you, and to consider how you can honor God with your strength and abilities. If you feel pressure to prove yourself through dangerous stunts, remember that your worth is found in Christ, not in applause or victory. We encourage you to pursue what builds up and protects life, and to trust God with the outcome.

We saw your note about the tables, chairs, ladders match or street wrestling coming up soon. It sounds like this is something you've been training for and looking forward to, and we are glad you reached out so we can pray with you.

We know these kinds of matches can be intense and carry real physical risk, and we care about your safety and wellbeing as you prepare. We are praying for clear thinking as you train and make decisions, for good people around you who will look out for you and be honest with you, and for wisdom to weigh both the excitement and the cost to your body and future.

If you have a coach or trainer you trust, it could be a good step to talk through the specific safety measures, the environment that night, and what medical and personal support will be there. Having someone in your corner who cares more about you than the event itself makes a big difference.

Father, we bring our friend to you today. Thank you for the strength and energy you have given. We ask you to keep them safe, give them wisdom and discernment in the days ahead, and surround them with wise counsel. Guide their steps and help them know your care and presence in whatever they decide. In Jesus' name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Have fun! I am not sure, because I haven't done that.
But, I like football, rugby, baseball. Maybe, some cricket. I also love Jesus!

I pray that it goes well, and you can grow your relationship in Christ, in Jesus name, amen!

Your request concerning the wrestling that lies before you, whether in tables, chairs and ladders or in street wrestling, has been brought before the Lord in prayer.

We are reminded that all strength of every sort comes from God. Human strength is derived strength and will spend itself in due time. Though a man had the strength of a lion and an ox combined, he would one day fail. Apart from God it is not strength at all and must come to an end. The glory of our strength lies not in limbs and lungs, nor in force of intellect or cunning plans, but in God alone, who is the Author of all being and who gives power to the faint and to them that have no might increases strength.

We have prayed that you may learn what it is to wait upon the Lord, for they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. Do not lean upon your own understanding nor trust in creature strength, but look to Him who has said, As thy days, so shall thy strength be. He will give you strength enough to bear your sufferings and to do your duty, and when there remains no strength in you, you may fling yourself upon the Divine strength and lay hold upon it.

We have asked also for your keeping, for you will always need Divine keeping. It is written that He shall give His angels charge over thee to keep thee in all thy ways. He who travels on the King's highway is under the King's protection. Therefore we pray that you may walk in appointed ways, in childlike trust in providential guidance, asking the Lord to guide you and not turning to the right hand or to the left after your own will. If you go in the way of error or of vainglory, you cannot expect Divine protection, but if you seek to do all to the glory of God, you may hope for His hand upon you.

We pray that anxiety may not unfit you, for anxiety has never brought grist to the mill. Instead, in whatever you do, seek first to be right with God through Jesus Christ, in whom alone is salvation, and then whatever strength is given you, use it not to get glory to yourself nor to play at matches with your brethren for vainglory, but to show forth His praise. May the Lord make you greatly beloved as you seek secret communion with Him, and may He strengthen you with strength in your soul, and keep you from harm, and lead you to serve Him with all your heart for Jesus Christ's sake.

Your request for prayer as you prepare for a tables chairs ladders match and street wrestling has been heard, and we bring it before the Lord with care for both your body and your soul.

Scripture often uses wrestling as a picture, but it points us to a different kind of contest. In the games the crowd gathers and strains to see every move of the athlete, judging skill and strength by the roar of the theater. Yet we are taught not to wrestle according to the opinion of the multitude but according to the teaching of the true Teacher. In other contests the loss is only in the contest itself, but when we live for the approval of the crowd rather than for Christ, the loss touches eternal life. This is a moment to ask whether this path seeks the praise of spectators or faithfulness to the Lord who calls us to discipline, humility and stewardship of the body He has given.

There is also a difference between true courage and mere audacity. True courage speaks and acts with conviction under God, even at cost, as John the Baptist did. Audacity is an unbridled tongue or a reckless display that seeks attention without wisdom. The meekness and gentleness of Christ is our model, and Paul urges us not to walk according to the flesh or to boast in bold display, but to show courage in what is right and good. Christ Himself tasted death for us, not to make us fearless in chasing danger, but to free us from the fear of death so we can live with sober minds and not throw ourselves needlessly into harm.

So we will pray for you, not to ask God to bless a spectacle of violence, but to ask Him to guard you, to give you wisdom and to form Christlike courage in you. We pray that the Lord will protect your body from serious injury, clear your mind from vainglory, and help you weigh this decision with counsel, humility and care for your future. We pray He will teach you to pursue the greater wrestling, which is against sin and for holiness, and that you will know His meekness and strength in whatever work you do. If you go forward, may you do so with restraint and responsibility, and if wisdom points another way, may you have grace to step back.

We ask God to keep you safe, to draw you closer to Jesus Christ who alone saves, and to guide your steps so that your strength is used for what honors Him and truly profits your soul.
