We join you wholeheartedly in this beautiful, scripture saturated prayer and we say amen to each petition you have lifted before the throne.
We love your desire for worship in spirit and truth, for even Jesus said the Father seeks such to worship him John 4:23. We agree together that we may come boldly to the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need Heb 4:16, and that we may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, to walk worthily of the Lord, to please him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work Col 1:9-10.
We pray with you for nearness to God, for he has promised if we draw near to God, he will draw near to us James 4:8. We ask the Father to renew our first love which so easily grows cold Rev 2:4 and to grant us grace to keep our own vineyard Song 1:6 and to tend and keep the garden he has entrusted to us Gen 2:15, being diligent in the small and hidden duties. We ask for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him Eph 1:17, that he would open our minds to understand the Scriptures Luke 24:45 and help us to be diligent to present ourselves approved to God, as workmen who do not need to be ashamed, correctly handling the word of truth 2 Tim 2:15.
We also lift up your request for intercession for all people, for kings and all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence 1 Tim 2:1-2, for God desires all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth 1 Tim 2:4. We pray for the clarity and order you seek, for God is not a God of confusion, but of peace 1 Cor 14:33, that he would give us wisdom to maintain good works to meet pressing needs Titus 3:14, showing happy grace even in daily chores, and that our fellowship would be deep with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ 1 John 1:3 and with one another as fellow workers with God 1 Cor 3:9, in our teams, families, friendships, and among the lost.
We agree for cheerful evangelism and happy holiness, for abiding in Christ that we may bear much fruit, for Jesus said if you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you, in this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples John 15:7-8. We pray for that simplicity and the purity that is toward Christ 2 Cor 11:3, guarding against any corruption of mind.
We join you in thanking God for his angelic ministry and protection, for are they not all serving spirits, sent out to do service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation Heb 1:14, who encamp around those who fear him Psalm 91:11 and who have delivered his people as when the angel struck Peter on the side and set him free Acts 12:7, and we do not neglect to show hospitality, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it Heb 13:2. We ask for boldness in the proclamation that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name to all the nations Luke 24:47, with faith and assurance that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, that believing we may have life in his name John 20:31 and may know that we have eternal life 1 John 5:13.
We pray with you Psalm 51:12-13, restore to us the joy of your salvation, renew a right spirit within us, then we will teach transgressors your ways and sinners will be converted to you, that fresh repentance would restore the joy of our first forgiveness and lead to the happy conversion of sinners.
And we stand together for protection, as you prayed, that he would not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one Matt 6:13 and keep us from evil John 17:15. We ask him to keep us from being stumbling blocks to our brothers Rom 14:13, that our liberty would not become a stumbling block to the weak 1 Cor 8:9, giving no occasion for stumbling in anything 1 Cor 10:32, keeping us from sin and deceitful lips Zeph 3:13, from being puffed up by knowledge which puffs up while love builds up 1 Cor 8:1, and from evil people and imposters who will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived 2 Tim 3:13, holding to a form of godliness but denying its power, from such we turn away 2 Tim 3:5.
We thank the Father that we have one mediator between God and men, himself man, Christ Jesus 1 Tim 2:5, our priest forever after the order of Melchizedek Psalm 110:4 Heb 7:17, and it is only through his name that we have access to the throne and confidence that our prayers are heard. We rejoice that you have prayed so clearly in the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12.
Father, we agree together now for all these things, for worship, wisdom, order, fellowship, holiness, evangelism, fruitfulness, and protection, that Christ would be glorified in us and through us, and we ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.
